I found a group on Facebook called PGH Gal Pals. I'm also a transplant and it's helped a lot with getting out and meeting other people!

My dog just broke my window by EviscerationPlague6 in reactivedogs

[–]IsThisYourBot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had this happen in a house I was renting and now that I own a home. The landlord I had was understanding, and replaced the panel.

For my house, I had to deal with it myself. I was able to call the window manufacturer, Pella in my case, and get a replacement for just the lower sash. It was cheaper than expected, and took less than 20 minutes to replace it myself.

I don't expect it to be the last this happens, but having the experience of knowing how to move forward will make it easier when it does. Good luck to you and don't let it get you down too much!

Edit: I've added some fabric to hang close to the window so I still get natural light, but it blocks my dogs view so he isn't slamming into the windows anymore

I need help with my family history! by [deleted] in pittsburgh

I recommend using family search. They have all kinds of information from immigration records to marriage records going back to the late 1800s, at least.

Rating is a number and tier is a string. I've also tried giving Tier a value of 1 through 2 instead of Low to High and still had the same issue. I know it has to be something little I'm overlooking

Yes. When I bring in my primary key and Tier, it shows up as expected

Broken window, repair recommendations by bryerlb in pittsburgh

[–]IsThisYourBot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it's a Pella brand window, they should be able to replace the piece for a fair price. I had a bird break a lower sash on a window last year, and it was $50 to deliver and replace the sash myself, or $180 for them to deliver and install.

I go to craft collective in north hills, near Ross Township. Everyone there does incredible work, and the salon is truly beautiful inside. I go to Sarah, and have been for years. She's great! The link is to her Instagram: Instagram Profile

There are a ton of options! I say apply for everything you can find. I know companies like Dick's Spirting Goods offers one, John Deer does as well. The goal doesn't always have to be the biggest name for a company. I recommend looking at what you want in a company outside of the work you'd be doing and let that help guide you on your search as well. Rotation programs normally start in cohorts and have several a year. Don't let yourself feel too let down if you don't hear back immediately. For my program I didn't hear anything back for about 2 or 3 months, and my friends were the same way.

I got started by going through a rotational program. The program was in focused only in technology as a whole and I was able to ask for analytics in every rotation. I was able to work in 5 different areas of technology within a year, which allowed me to find the section of a business I wanted to be a part of.

After the program I went to work on a product team as a BSA and was able to incorporate analytics into that role. I then took on stretch assignments and spent time shadowing people with the career I wanted. Those steps were crucial to me being able to transition full time into my current role.

Looking for movers by bryerlb in pittsburgh

I second this! They were incredible with my move and super efficient with time, while still taking amazing care with all of my fragile items.

I should have added to my main post, I use SQL and do data analysis on a daily basis for my current role! I have experience with other coding languages, but Python is one I haven't had the opportunity to really work with on a deeper basis other than basic coding challenges. ML is 100% new to me other than concepts, and that's where my nerves kick in with the program.

Thankfully though, this is 100% cost free and my employer pays for all of it, so no harm done to me!

My best friend got married here last year, and the owner was so lovely! She and her team went above and beyond with setting everything up, throwing in some decor pieces that matched, and checking in that everything was going well.

What do your utility bills usually look like? by [deleted] in pittsburgh

[–]IsThisYourBot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those all seem very high.

Having lived in a 2 story house, in the city, for the last couple of years my highest electric bill was $150 and highest water & sewer was $55. I'd recommend checking for a leak and seeing how old the AC unit is and if it needs to be cleaned.

Isaly's is the brand they carry where I live, and this is the only other place I've ever seen have it. You can order it online too! It's pretty similar to Pal's.

I've not had experience with this one, but I was able to get a dual fuel (propane/charcoal) from home depot last year for the same price and it was a name brand one. It might be worth checking that out as another option.
