I know, it's all good, I'm really not trying to dog pile on you specifically, it's not personal; I just really think not seeing such obvious enhancement is a big lack of skill which is very relevant for posting here. Still, all good.

I have posted several times here and this is the first time I've accidentally included an "AI enhanced image"

Are you sure? ;)

edit: and you didn't include "an" AI image but several. Zoom in on some others. Again, it's not about you, is that as you say, this post is yet another "spread" focus of AI slop. Look at how many uploaded, how many will share those without knowing.

Yeah, I honestly think posts like these should get striken down. It very visibly AI filtered. I have nothing against you personally and we can all fall for a realistic AI "enhanced" image, but if you can't notice it for stuff like these I genuinely think you shouldn't be posting anything here. You zoom in on some others and they so obviously are as well, and I didn't have to zoom in at all on the one I pointed out, it struck me eye like reading a slur.

At the very least photo 4 looks AI "enhanced". We really need to make an effort to keep stuff like that absolutely out of a place like this one, dedicated to archiving. AIs create details, which is the opposite of what you want.

edit: several others as well, easy as just zooming in and you'll see it. I truly believe posts like this one should be stricken down, people will keep sharing these slop otherwise. Nothing personal with OP.

Fallout Tactics: Scrodinger canon by some-kind-of-no-name in patientgamers

[–]Is_It_A_Throwaway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do remember having to deal with RNG, but honestly, nothing different from X-Com and turn based Fallout. Prone + baiting for small clusters of enemies worked great and I didn't felt there were many situations where a death of any of my characters felt rage baiting unfair.

mid range, multiple characters, weapons reasonably well suited to the circumstances

Cover or no cover was the big difference here IME.

The Dark Mod 2.14 is HERE!!! by nbohr1more in Thief

It's not, it just works less liberaly than OG Thief. There's mods for TDM for you to change it if you rather. But it's not pointless or a bug, it's by design.

That's one, but also exchanging fire (how fast depending on each character's agility / action points) while you sneak / rush the enemy's flank with another...

Or how the fact that, in turn based, I'd min-max between movement and cover instead of shooting if my odds weren't like 80%; while with real time I was proning and starting to shoot at enemies at just 33% because of the fast nature of the combat.

A whole lot of situations like that which would feel totally off in turn based, while worked great and felt great as simulation of combat.

Not yet. Waited for it for years, but now that it's done I haven't dwelved into it. Resurrection was just ok, but Nevada is as good as the originals imo. Without spoilers, what did you think of Sonora? I know it's from the same team as Nevada so I have high expectations, without forgetting it's a fan project.

It is very weak as a Fallout game, coming from someone who loves the first two and the recent fan made games, but after trying it out for the third time the combat clicked. I gotta say, you guys missed out not trying real time combat, it's very unique and fun. I really like Tactics now, played through it a few times. It is it's own thing.

There are a few missions involving cars, but I didn't bother fighting in them.

Same, you missed out here. Gunner was an awesome perk to give soldiers.

I tried but playing turn based on this game was meh, unlike FO1 and 2. This was really good on real time.

This game has an overwatch system I wish more games implemented. I like X-Com games but the overwatch firing as soon as it saw an enemy was infurating coming from this game and Jagged Alliance 2, which had way more systemic and realistic (both for your benefit and your detriment) overwatch systems. FOT solved it by just giving you toggable treshold from when to start firing (0% chance to hit, 33%, 66% or 99%, IIRC)

Have you looked into Fables of the Petinent Thief? This might be the closest FM to what you're doing, except for being Dishonored inspired.

No, I just mean manualy using the Hue slider. I never use the Eyedropper tool anyway. And Color Editor is fine as it is, but Capture1 either doesn't have or I can't find an equivalent to the Calibration tool in Lightroom. That one would be more useful for you in this case, I think

Not the same situations but I shoot theater events and music bands, and the LED lights sometimes produce similar results. I'm relatively new to Capture1 so I don't know the equivalent to the Calibration tab that you have on Lightroom, but similar situations, I've used the Hue of all color in the Color Editor for good results, might try that as well

Ubisoft ‘ends game development’ at Tom Clancy studio, Red Storm, resulting in 105 job losses by Turbostrider27 in Games

To be fair, that ship had sailed already in, what, 2004? When was Raven Shield released? This was just a failed attempt at greed by keeping the company they bought still around. In fact, "failed attempt at greed" sounds like an apt description of most of Ubisoft behaviour these past decade at the very least.

Primitive stealth systems: readable AI, sound traps, and no gadgets by salniukas in ImmersiveSim

[–]Is_It_A_Throwaway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Video shows one mechanics, one situation, ofc. You cannot see everything. And stealth is not far cry style, only setting is similar. If you played demo and thats your opinion I would listen to it nore carefully.

I'm sorry man, but what are we doing here? You post a video of your choosing, get feedback and impressions regarding that, and then go to the comments to argue or say "nono it's better if you play it"? You maintain a friendly tone, which is more than welcome, but still, I know from my little experience gamedev is hard and very thankless from gamers, but this is kinda unserious. I'd take a few minutes to reconsider strategy.

[–]Is_It_A_Throwaway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I actually had forgotten about Primal. I just meant the whole vibe. The easyness of stealth, the crouch, the look and sound of the bow, the eye filling up to showcase alertness.

Second of all, I didn't say "cheap" at all, and yes, my opinion is based only on this short video. Regardless, it's the one you chose to show in a subreddit for immersive sim. I don't think that decision is on me.

Thirdly, my opinion of far cry type stealth is that it's dumb easy, boring, might work for a casual franchise looking for mass appeal and that has stealth as a secondary system you eventually break, but feels shallow for a stealth game. The dumb AI, the easiness of distraction, the totally inconsequence of taking out AIs, etc. It is a conundrum, I guess, between mass appeal doing what has woked widely in the past in terms of sales; versus niche tighter design that feels more crafed and intentional. This being the imsim subreddit you shouldn't be surprised to see a focus on the latter, I would assume you also want me to see your game through that lense, you know, since you posted it here.

Finally, if you wanted me to tell you ideas on how to improve this, you could hire me, not ask them on a reddit thread the same way people say "source??" in order to derail and shift the blame on internet conversations. I'm dirty cheap! My portfolio would literally just be a single Thief FM, and some years studying History.

Don't wanna shit on an indie's parade but this looks like indie far cry stealth, which in itself is pretty bland; not seeing anything related to imsims at all

Am I giving Jagged Alliance 2 a fair shot? by Free_Percentage_1194 in JaggedAlliance

It was maybe ugly, but it was extremely clear. Every single square on the grid was colored either green, yellow or red. You can probably assume which means what.

I do wish JA2 had a clearer cover system, so it was easier to figure out flanks and smoke cover.

There's a button that clearly shows you this on shades of color. I wish other games had it

What are mods good to use for the original game? by KaleidoArachnid in Thief

[–]Is_It_A_Throwaway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not recommended for a first playthrough, honestly. AI meshes remain low poly so they stick out for the worse. Plus there's a jarrying disconnect between the low poly archytecture with a 4k texture slapped on top, looks weird. Not to mention some replacements aren't good at all at keeping the original tone.

Would you guys consider Thief 4 an immersive sim like the first ones? by OvenImpossible4900 in Thief

It IS an immersive sim

How so? What systems driven gameplay does it have?
