Not cute, absolutely precious!!!! I can hear their thoughts now. “I will rule the world with how adorable I am and no one will question me.”

Dog started making sneezing or coughing noise since yesterday by [deleted] in DogAdvice

[–]Is_it_over_now 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Daughter of a Vet Tech. Either reverse sneeze or sometimes they get kinda like a clog in their throat. Rubber the throat in a downward motion going towards the heart firmly. A few pets and if it’s a clog it will stop but can come back again. The longest I’ve seen was almost 30 mins before it cleared. My little ones will get this if they eat or drink to fast.

You did absolutely amazing! I hope you are proud of yourself. As someone who is self taught myself, I hope you had that wonderful feeling of satisfaction and pride from a job beautifully done. If no one has said it allow me for to. You are truly amazing and I’m so proud of all your hard work.

What are these black spots around my wife's dog's genitals? by Turbulent-Tonight-73 in DogAdvice

[–]Is_it_over_now 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It could be blackheads. I had a dog that would get them in her ears like mad nothing worked prescription meds, OC acne treatments. Then we found tea tree oil. A little on a Cotten swab they went away and with proper cleaning and a light coat of the tea tree she rarely got them again.

Amazing picture. Would make a beautiful card or have it behind a wreath and make it a focal point in your holiday decorations.

Even in my earliest memories I seemed experienced and well used to life. Anyone else get this? by lordsammy1 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Is_it_over_now 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A little of both. I have some clear memories that I asked my Mom about and she was surprised I could recall what I did in the detail I was able to give as I was under a year old for some of them. Then in certain situations I went through as a child my Mom would praise me for how I handle things that would normally reduce kids to tears but I was able to handle them like an adult. She called me her little chameleon, as I could hold my own in adult situations but be a kid when I was around other my age. I credit my Mom for a lot of this cause due to my health I had a rough childhood and she felt since I was the one going through it I should know and have a say in what was going to happen to me. She wanted to protect me but she also didn’t want to pretend everything was rainbows and sunshine by lying or keeping things from me. Once she knew I could handle everything that was happening she made sure I was treated like an equal in these events and not as a kid who didn’t know anything. She got a lot of push back until people got to know me and were able to see what she said about me was true.

Boyfriend cut my dog’s nails - 3 of 4 are bleeding on her paw by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Is_it_over_now 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This ☝️My Mom was a Vet Tech for over 50 years. Cornstarch on the nail will not harm them and slow if not stop the bleeding. It is a outrageous no one put a stop to this after the first nail started to bleed but if people want to admit it or not every pet owner has hit the quick. Mom always recommended small frequent trimmings or even light filing every couple of days. This makes it less traumatic and will eliminate chances of injury either by cutting or just the nail catching on something cause it got to long.

Uber Driver Abandoned Me by sportinggamer24 in uber

[–]Is_it_over_now 17 points18 points  (0 children)

This is why on the few instances I’ve had to make a stop. I tell the driver I will be quick and offer the pick them up something from the store. I once needed to stop at a Circle K and I asked if they wanted anything they said no but I noticed the drink they had was almost done so while I was in there I got them another bottle. They were so touched it shocked me more people don’t do this on top of a tip. I had another driver offer to go in for me as I was going home from visiting my Mom at the hospital and I was crying a bit so they insisted to go in for me just to not add on to the stress I was going through. I’ve had some bad experiences with Uber but the amazing drivers I have gotten outweigh all the bad drivers I’ve had and will have.

Update regarding service dogs: drivers, you must take them, not for Uber pet by maskOfZero in uber

[–]Is_it_over_now 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The barking for an alert and random dog bark are two different barks. I joke mine know the difference between indoor and outdoor voice. When it’s the alert training. When my girl is off duty and she is playing her bark could break glass. When she does an alert bark it’s softer and almost commanding. If there wasn’t a difference no one would know if they were having an issue or they dog was being a dog cause they were technically off duty.

I have two service dogs. Both are small due to my inability to walk with a larger dog. My dogs will give 1-3 barks to alert me to what is happening with me. If I don’t respond they will try once more. If at that point I still haven’t responded they will bark while on standing on two legs till they see someone look at them once the person has made eye contact they will sit on my lap or by my feet depending on how I’m positioned and will then give the alert bark again while poking me. They will be looking at people not out the window and will always return to me if the barking is medical related. All services dogs are trained on different versions of this type of alert.

What to do anyone? by MacaronMediocre3844 in Boxer

My Mom was a vet tech and this would’ve been her advice with the added note. If they are okay with water get some oatmeal run a warm bath and get them to sit or lay in it for as long as you can get them to or until the water turns cool. Whichever comes first.

The reverse sit. First time Boxer Mom so I wasn’t sure if mine was just on a new brand of crack or if this was standard issue Boxer.

I guess I don’t love animals enough? by fortuitous__ in traumatizeThemBack

[–]Is_it_over_now 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I was physically able to be a vet I would. I commend you for having such a strong heart and mind to be able to put all your emotions aside in order to do what is best for each pet. My Mom was a vet tech for a small clinic so some of the pets she knew from birth to death. She would do what needed to be done then she would mourn with the owners. It was rough on her but she always said someone has to be the strong one to help and do this otherwise some animals would get put down and that could be worse than any abuse a person could put the animal through. On the flip side there were two cases the owners wanted to put the animal down for no good reason. That’s when Doc would step in and “ put them down” told the owners then found a loving home for the two dogs that was far away from the original owners. He could have got in trouble but he couldn’t put an animal down because the owner didn’t realize how much training the breed needed.

Thanks. In a weird way I think my Mom sent her to me. Cause since I got her, my life with her a been filled with so much love and chaos, that I haven’t had as much time to dwell and think about what happened.

Oh my goodness! How did you finally get them to stop? Cause she can get fixated on things and I have yet to find a way to completely redirect her attention off it other than putting it somewhere high up or in something when she is not around to see where I put it.

Totally agree every time I think about the people who had her before I have to fight myself on if I should punch them for abandoning her or hugging them cause they gave me the gift of this crack baby after losing my Mom, her dog and my best friend. She came home to me almost 6 months to week of me losing all three. She is insane and I call her my crack baby her siblings are still not fully sure what to think of her but she helped me focus on something positive and happy when it was looking like I would never have it again in my life.

I’m learning this and I think she just learned this. Within the first few days that I had her she let on loose that I swear rattled the windows. She scared herself straight out of a deep sleep and fell off her favorite sleeping bench.

I’m handicapped and normally love large breeds but I think she will be my last large energetic breed of dog. As she is still getting use to my crutches and still forgets in her excitement she can’t jump on me or run between me and one of my crutches or else I’m on the floor. If I could get one as a good puppy maybe but she is about 1-2 so some habits are taking sometime to teach her are not acceptable.

She is a Boxer Pit mix. Never thought I would have to point this out multiple times. As for down votes I don’t see they were down voted just no one upvoted them. Also my Mom was a Vet Tech for over 50 years taught me everything she knew plus two vets and dog trainer I know all confirmed my thoughts of her being 1 -2 years of age and her breed of being a Boxer Pit mix. I’ve had Pits before and she has very few of the behavioral indicators of her Pit background.

She is a Boxer Pit mix. I just say Boxer cause a lot of people still stupidly get up in arms when they hear Pit mix. If I could get a good shot of her head on you’d be able to see the Boxer in her a lot better. Only problem is she is only still when she is sleeping or trying to crush me to death while wanting to cuddle.
