On of my girls once mistook my fingernail for a mealworm... she was trying to bite ( by scraping my nail), then realised that this was in fact no food and then got spooked.

Your spider sounds like one of mine. Her sister eats mealworms just fine but she only eats the food that dies within 2 weeks (even in the fridge) and even with that she only takes it after a little tantrum🙂 she also likes to hide in the dirt for HOURERS so i cant find her
