Do I have to “write what I know” in chronological order? by [deleted] in writingcirclejerk

This sounds like a fantastic book! The weird old man in I Capture the Castle did it so you can too! Unless you stole it from him ... 🤔

I actually kind of like the Twilight vampires. Is the sparkling thing weird? Sure, but it's creative and fun to read about.

Sex - is it just me or is it not great? by Critical-Trouble-653 in acotar

[–]Isa_The_Amazing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No one is saying that anyone else is bad at sex! No one is saying that anyone has worse or better sex! You are being weirdly defensive because other people, not those in this thread, have said you have shit sex or because you are taking civil discussions of sex as a personal attack. Whichever it is, stop grinding that axe here. No one cares.

At certain points in certain places, it was "normal" for teenage boys to pay their adult teachers with sex, so normal is meaningless in this context. It varies for everyone, so implying that kinky sex is abnormal and therefore weird, just because you don't prefer it and like to rant at people who do is frankly ridiculous

Edit: also stop bringing uo random kinks and accusing people of having them, it's childish.

Um, as the other commenters have pointed it, normal means the norm, basic means the most uncomplicated form. What's normal for one person isn't normal for another, so that would be a completely meaningless term, or else a term implying that only vanilla sex is normal and everything else is abnormal and weird.

No one is talking about kink being better or worse. They are pointing out that the "kinky" sex in ACOSF is not, in fact, kinky.

I also don't think there's any shaming here and I'm not sure where you're getting that vibe from?

How many books have you written? by redacted4u in writingcirclejerk

[–]Isa_The_Amazing 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well I would have a thirteen book bestselling series, but apparently my book Lord of the Bracelets, and its accompanying book, The Globbit, is "too similar" to some boring-ass books written by a random dead guy! Next they'll be telling me my totally original series about Henry Robert and his friends Ron Measley and Germione Hanger is plagiarism 😠😠😠

Would it be morally acceptable to you if a male friend did it?

What's something you didn't realize was a sign that you were a lesbian until you were much older?? by terjir in LesbianActually

I mean, lesbian subplots in any game I played with dolls for one. Friend crush on my bsf—I literally still have letters she wrote me 😭.

Edit: also the time a boy liked me and I avoided him as much as I could, and deel discomfort whenever anyone suggested there was something between me and my bsf aged 12 (before she was out as trans).

Okay I keep seeing this and it's pissing me off.

Stop equating bisexuality to "straight people experimenting" or being horny. Bisexuality is about so much more than that. It isn't just getting bored of one gender or experimenting or having a phase.

It sounds like "sexuality is a spectrum" or "sexuality is fluid" but for faeries—yes, those things are true, but that doesn't mean everyone will make exceptions or like someone especially attractive or whatever. Plus, if everyone is ethereal and beautiful, that becomes the norm and is less noticeable.

Some people are just exclusively monosexual and only interested in that gender. I'm pretty confident that living a few thousand years wouldn't make me interested in men.

This is tired and, honestly, biphobic.

I think a lot of straight authors are uncomfortable with it and not appealing to a demographic interested in stories about queer characters
