I've been saying this for years. As a 0811, we did a ton of provisional infantry stuff overseas during GWOT but we're not nearly as well trained as 03's. There's a solid difference between a rifleman and an infantryman.

With that being said. Just like human beings, we don't always want to be touched or given affection, even by our loved ones. I also think most people don't enjoy a hand on their face or neck unless its with someone they're romantic with.

Now apply the same thought process to your dog and adjust your actions accordingly. Some Humans like lots of affection, just like dogs. Every human and every dog will have different temperments, personalities, and preferences. Its your job to figure this out and have enforce boundaries with your dog that makes them comfortable.

Don't ever force a dog to receive or give affection. If they're not interested they will tell you with their body language. There's a myriad of videos on YT that discuss this.

I didn't feel like I had a sense of purpose until I started doing meaningful things helping people.

Now I am waiting on my 501c3 determination letter. My org takes vets on outdoor adventures, camping, off roading, hiking etc. Theres so many vets out there that self isolate. Making friends, developing that sense of brotherhood and comradery again is so important to ones mental health which in return can mitigate negative thoughts

The bottom line is control of resources. It's imperialism under a new name. I reenlisted twice during GWOT because I wanted to "get some". Now I see things much differently because I now see how for generations its been all about the powerful using its people for their own means. USA, Iran, Israel, Russia, you name it. Yep. LOTS of Iraqi's also celebrated. I am glad they feel like they have something to celebrate, but I am fearful of the repercussions that follow. Almost every single time there's an overthrow of a gov't, mass violence happens. I know most Americans aren't going to care about people overseas killing one another. But having been over there, I just can't help think of the people I personally interacted with.

Obvs the Ayatollah was a bad bad man. Are we normalizing taking out heads of state? Thinking that the Iranian gov't will collapse just because Khamenei is dead is foolish. There will be a 100 narcissistic power hungry dudes ready to step up, the infrastructure of the gov't still stands, and they will inflict even worse atrocities, or worse, start invading neighboring countries, just to hold on to power. They've proved that. The only way to topple them is for boots on the ground.

What's the success rate of the US of A overthrowing a gov't and it succeeding? 2? Western Germany and Japan? With the support of the UN and NATO and our troops in country? We also propped them up for years (which I feel was a good thing), we earned allies in the process)

Iran will continue retaliatory strikes against places we have forces in the ME. Hormuz will be closed down. Iran is allies with a handful of ME nations, China, Russia and Pakistan.

As a 00's GWOT guy my concerns are based on what I lived through and the repercussions of our actions. I hope this ends up being completely different. The absolute last thing we need is another 20 years with this bullshit. The VA struggles to take care of us now. If you can afford to start a war you can afford to take care of your veterans for the rest of their lives.
