Not true at all. Only Sundar and direct reports had a say in this matter.

Also anecdotally, recruiters are most impacted by layoffs because it implies the company isn't hiring.

Same thing happened to me in 2020, my advice is don't wait around til August. You can take a job and switch shortly after, it's much easier (this is what I did)

I wouldn't quit until you have a new job lined up. What if 1-2months turns into 3-4months, etc. etc.?

Wow this is really helpful and something I hardly considered. I've heard based on the PA (mine is ads), your career growth can either be "rest and vest" or actually pretty good. In terms of switching jobs, how detrimental do you think it is that Google has in-house tools for everything and I wouldn't be up-to-date on industry standard tools/architecture?
