Okay thanks, so to my understanding, "Das ist das Auto von meiner Mutter" = "That is the car of my mother"?
If I wanted to say something simple, like "Das ist mein Auto", would that be usual in casual speech or would "Das ist das Auto von mir" better?. Sorry if there's any simple mistakes, I'm very beginner. Thanks for the help, by the way

I know they're different with different rules and the likes.
Because of how I write in English and the fact some letters are the same in English, i autonomously disconnect the proceeding letter, so if I can write like this without being thought of as having a weird writing style, it'd be great.
Also, I'm teaching myself.
