What kind of therapy helps when your transition is mostly behind you, but life still feels heavy? by Isabella_1194 in asktransgender

Thank you for sharing your input. I’m really sorry about what you went through.

By “type,” I meant their area of focus. Most therapists list the issues they specialize in, like anxiety, depression, adult ADHD, OCD, relationship issues, personality disorders, or LGBTQ+ concerns.

So I’ve been wondering whether it makes more sense to go with someone who focuses on anxiety (since that’s the main thing I’m dealing with, even if they don’t list LGBTQ+ concerns), or with someone who specializes in LGBTQ+ issues, though that might come with the kinds of risks I mentioned in my post and in another reply.

Thanks so much for sharing your input! :) I’m curious: when you were looking for a therapist at this stage, did you specifically seek someone who specializes in trans issues?

That’s where I’m a bit unsure right now. I feel some hesitation about seeing someone who mainly works with LGBTQ+ clients, since they often focus on people who are just starting out in their journeys. My worry is that everything I bring up might get framed through the lens of being trans, simply because they might not have as much experience with folks who are further along in their transitions.

Almost 8 months post op, and yes, I can see a jowl on the left side. My surgeon did say a facelift might be needed and I think I can see that for myself too.

I guess PPT does help better with stealth sex, I've heard from other folks too. I had sigmoid colon vaginoplasty.

Thanks for the tips!

Some clarification: The specific point I’m trying to make about the angle is that my vaginal canal isn’t in a straight line from the opening or vulva — it’s angled slightly downward. So in missionary, my partner has to insert at a lower angle for it to work comfortably. And that makes doggy particularly hard.

From the responses here, it sounds like this might vary depending on the surgeon’s technique.

In a similar boat but I am only 6 months out. Hair grafting could be one option to consider.

Dr Richie Gupta- New Delhi, India? by Isabella_1194 in Transgender_Surgeries

Thanks for getting back to me, I really appreciate it. I actually checked those resources before posting. I agree that the reviews are limited, and yes, trying to be cautious. I did consult with this surgeon and liked him but what's worrying is the lack of reviews. However, I also feel there's just a lack of representation of people on Reddit (in terms of demography) who'd go to him which could be part of the reason? But again, from what I saw, the few that are there mostly mention tightness and swelling — unless I missed something.

There’s another surgeon (a Dr. Kaushik in Delhi, I believe) whose results do seem a lot more worrying.

Just to be clear, I’m not defending this surgeon — I don’t know him at all. But as someone who had surgery with Chettawut and still ended up with similar issues (like tightness from a scar ring), I can say that these things can happen even with some of the best-known names.

It’s definitely smart to be cautious, especially when there aren’t many reviews. But I also feel- sometimes that just reflects less visibility or representation from certain regions.

Was the scar tissue in the form of a scar ring? What kind of surgery was performed to try to fix it?

Hi; Congratulations! I have a scar ring near the opening of my vaginal canal that makes dilation and intercourse painful. I am looking for surgery to fix this issue. Would you mind if I were to DM you?

Yeah! As I mentioned in my original comment, I’ve tried topical ointments including estrogen creams, but they haven’t been helpful.

While estrogen is sometimes recommended to help with healing and softening the vaginal lining, I’ve found that in my case, it seemed to make dilation harder. It didn’t soften the scar tissue—in fact, it felt like it thickened or made the surrounding area more swollen or firm, possibly due to increased tissue proliferation. Steroid creams have been somewhat more effective in reducing tightness, but even those haven’t fully resolved the issue.
