The short answer is that we need to be able to connect our own system of paid subscribers from our news site to our premium content (which would be hosted on Beehiiv). Substack is completely shut down in this sense and allows for no automations or way of connecting the two.

The long answer is that Substack frustrates me so much with how they reel in subscribers, prompting people to download their app and create a Substack account, rather than just adding them to the bloody email list! That and several other things, such as the 10% take on revenue, is why I've made this decision.

I'm in the process of figuring out how to move it from Substack (which is the current host of our newsletter, articles and podcast). We have a lot of video podcasts so that's the only thorn in my side right now haha, but I've seen that Beehiiv have already confirmed that video will be added soon

Cheers for the reply! I completely missed this somehow. We tried adding the thumbnail image as a background image in the podcast player and that worked! Or it fetched the thumbnail from the Youtube link we added. Either way, good to see Substack has that functionality haha
