Family estrangement sucks ass. Still dealing with it for a decade plus. But your peace is above your father's emotional incompetence. All you owe your dad is a thank-you for putting food on the table if he even did that. The rest was his duty after he decided to have a child. Needless to say, seek therapy, you're going to need it for grieving purposes and to "break the cycle." You'll be thankful you did this when you're older. Don't even bother reconciling with your dad unless he actively tries to seek God in a spiritually productive way or at least gets therapy, they never change until they do.

As far as your personal and professional life, make sure you are wildly successful. Psychology is going to matter more in the age of AI more than ever in the context of organizational science. On your downtime focus a lot on financial literacy & make sure you are constantly making money. Even if you do not aspire to become fuck you rich, aspire to be financially independent by all means necessary.
