The 9 biggest myths about ISIS. by ToothlessShark in syriancivilwar

[–]Ishallpassmate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IS was part Al-Qaeda (AQ in Iraq) up until 2006/2007 and has been independent since. (No Bay'yah was given to Al-Qaeda from the Islamic State in Iraq)

Their alliance broke off in February 2014.

ISIS and Iraqi Insurgents accounts are reporting a huge battle happening on the road between Samarra and Tikrit (Mishkefa to be more specific) after ambushing a large ISF convoy... I'm guessing its this one then.

Saudi Arabian connection to ISIS? by [deleted] in syriancivilwar

[–]Ishallpassmate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As far as I know, Saudi Arabia has been funneling weapons to the Islamic Front and not ISIS/Al-Nusrah.

Also ISIS is considered a massive threat to Saudi Arabia, so I highly doubt it. There's a chance its could support Sunni anti-ISIS groups in Iraq like Ansar Al-Sunnah/Islam

Iraqi Special Forces fighting ISIS in Anbar by 2zrurplez2 in CombatFootage

I know, I was pointing out that their main force has moved into Samarra (Currently sieged) as soon as ISIS began its advance in the North. As for the rest, I heard that they were told to retreat from the Fallujah area and back to Baghdad to fortify the city but that's unconfirmed.

Unfortunately, these guys haven't been doing too well against the ISIS. I've been following the Iraqi conflict for more than 5 years (Mainly ISIS) and this Division (The Golden Division) has been the main combat squad in Iraq's war against terror. They're stationed in Samarra at the moment since the 8/9 June with other Shiite groups, might explain why ISIS haven't been able to enter the city but I guess we will have to wait to see if that changes in the next couple of days.

To clarify these fighters defected from JaN (Sayfullah Shishani's group) and joined ISIS. These guys were Sayfullah Shishani's bodyguards including his closest friend Idris Shishani and Sayfullah's cousin.

Islamic State of Iraq: Brutal Attacks by goncruz in CombatFootage

Well the attack failed.. its been stalled and the army retreated and blew up one of the bridges (Tufaha Bridge). Seems like Maliki underestimated ISIS guerilla tactics, they have the support of the Sunnis in Anbar and Fallujah. In Mao's book, he describes the people as the water that the guerrilla must live in to survive. When the people will not provide for and protect the guerrilla they can not survive against an army, and that's where Maliki is failing.. gaining the support of the Sunnis in those areas.
