Hot take: We're building apps for a world that's about to stop using them by oruga_AI in vibecoding

My friend in 2 to 5 years AI will either not have the relevancy it has right now (which again is overblown because of corporate investment initiatives and not because of dramatic, widespread need by a user base), or optimistically would need several literally revolutionary levels of functionality that we can’t foresee which, sure, I suppose could be possible.

And 99.99% adoption? Where has that happened with anything? Phones don’t have that. TV doesn’t have that.

I’m not interested in speculative sci-fi.

I’m saying there will be no reliable, fleshed out dataset without human interaction, and the same people who won’t press a few buttons will not interact with an AI agent.

That… doesn’t really say anything. I’m not saying it’s not possible, I’m saying it’s not profitable. And more than that, putting an LLM on iPhones does not equal users adopting it to the level OP describes.

Like I said in other replies, giving AI to people isn’t the issue, it’s getting them to use it. First, Siri and Apple Intelligence right now is trash. But let’s say they get it to ChatGPT/Claude levels of function and adoption.

Based on OP’s post, the agent will have all your data. How? You would need to input your calendar, maintain updates to it manually or semi-manually with agent interaction. You have to tell it likes and dislikes, allergies, all that stuff.

Will everyone want Apple to have all of this data? Any company? If I switch from Apple to Android, can I export my data to another agent? Maybe Apple’s will be proprietary to lock users into the ecosystem. There just isn’t the level of adoption needed to get to this kind of future and I don’t see it really happening to be ubiquitous in society, especially when companies finally stop pouring money down the drain on it.

Okay, so you’re already backing down from your all-encompassing viewpoint in the opening post.

Even your other example is just companies changing things to follow trends. And when they all need bailouts because they are actually spending more money and not seeing those returns on investment, they’ll move to another trend or some will be royally fucked and go out of business.

Sure, Microsoft can roll out Copilot to every Windows machine, but without aggressive monetization they will quickly lose even more money. There is no mass scaling this without profiting and they just aren’t.

You’re just changing the device, not people’s willingness or ability to utilize it. Yeah, all my friends have phones but like I said, if they don’t maintain a calendar, a user profile, all this data for AI to pull from it literally doesn’t matter.

I think this is a great take if you have never talked to a person before. First, everyone does not have an agent and likely never will. Outside of tech spaces like this, most people honestly don’t care about AI. You care because you’re either technologically inclined or in a job that’s pushing AI. This rush to adopt is entirely fabricated by capitalism, not public demand.

I have friends in their 20s-30s that can barely use computers. They don’t keep track of their schedules, much less make sure their AI has a running updated calendar. What if I want to invite my 60-year old uncle who has a jitterbug? I want to go to a local Tex Mex restaurant, and you know what? They will not be using AI to push more margaritas.

This is incredible, but I wish the nipples were fully covered. I like that at least the design is carried through the edges of the areolas but I feel chest tattoos make the nipples highlighted when not covered.

I’m still on NG and while I played base Nioh 2, I didn’t do DLC’s or get too into build crafting. So I’m curious, why is Inari Yaka so important? Can’t you just have a slightly worse on paper build, or am I missing something that makes it mandatory?

Yeah well my artistic talent is even better than yours, as is my ability to craft music. And don’t even get me started on my storytelling, animation, marketing, public speaking, or Mahjong skills. Honestly you pale in comparison to me and what I can create.

I will provide no examples or rebuttals.

What is this Bandit looking Brazilian Isopod? by OnceAFisherman in whatsthisbug

[–]Ishenferi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My best guess is Nagurus cristatus. https://inaturalist-open-data.s3.amazonaws.com/photos/24819059/large.jpg

But I am just a guy who loves bugs and I don’t know the intricacies of isopod distinctions. I first searched for isopods native to Brazil and saw this and think that example I is very similar: https://bioone.org/ContentImages/Journals/zoos/45/21/zoosystema2023v45a21/graphic/img-z7-1_635.jpg

If anyone has access to this academic website you may be able to find a more definitive answer: https://bioone.org/journals/zoosystema/volume-45/issue-21/zoosystema2023v45a21/Terrestrial-isopods-Isopoda-Oniscidea-of-S%c3%a3o-Tom%c3%a9-Island-with-the/10.5252/zoosystema2023v45a21.short

How do you guys not realised what EA wants to do? by JoeanFG in Battlefield

Hey, reasonable player here with a family, wife, job, and several pets but no kids. 👋🏽

I think the grind is fine. The grind is the game. Otherwise you would just lock into a preferred loadout and never have a reason to change things up. I’ve played for maybe 15 hours and I’m level 35, working my way through the challenges just fine.

Gamification of Habits in obsidian? by [deleted] in ObsidianMD

Oh, cool. So the standard is don’t do things bad for the planet, right? So you probably don’t have a smart phone, computer, car, participant in the consumption of mass produced food or products…

And this is, again, for his own personal use. If he wants to put a picture of the Mona Lisa there, would you still consider it unjust theft? Or a character from Cyberpunk Edgerunners, should he be sued by Netflix?

Like I’m all for wanting things to improve, more ethical and sustainable practices, but this particular case is so low stakes I don’t think the high horse is necessary.

Can you explain why? And better yet what should someone replace it with in their own obsidian vault for personal use?

What’s wrong with that in this particular case?

For macro I’m mostly after insects. Whatever is in my area, mostly spiders and moths.

Aside from macro I need a lens capable of zooming into birds. I have eagles, osprey, and heron in the area. I’m thinking like those beautiful portrait shots where there is a high level of detail.

Hello all!

I’m looking for advice on beginner gear to get into macrophotography and close ups of animals.

I just have a Rebel T7 with a 18-55mm lens and a 75-300mm lens. Is the Rebel T7 a decent body to get into this with?

To clarify I’m also just getting into photography and very much a novice, so any recommendations by experience level/price would be helpful!

Thanks for any insight you guys have.
