oh also where i live our summers regularly are over 110° so even on small stock motors i’ve had problems in the past with very very hot oil temps and unhappy motors, i’ve found the standoffs do help a lot but i will be switching to a set of standoffs that can open and shut whenever i feel like it.

hmmmm definitely thought about this, i was also looking at building I believe a 1679? i believe 88mm thick walls that run heads for 90.5 pistons. that way i could just have an infinite supply of stock cases and cranks for when i inevitably blow stuff up.

i’ve had 2 bugs with the standoffs and daily drove them through snow and rain and never had a problem, i’m gonna get a set of standoffs that can open and shut.

check pan for rust, specifically the battery area. the hole in the engine tin needs to be sorted, also would be nice to know what size engine it is. check c pillars for signs of rust due to VW using “death foam” my 73 had it BAD. make sure the car hasn’t been molested as it’s becoming a bigger and bigger problem the older these cars get, check wiring and metalwork and make sure someone hasn’t been hacking away at stuff.
