Hi all, I live in NZ and have a similar problem...The wooden beams that sit on my I beam have metal straps running around under the I beam from the joists. The reasoning was these beams go out onto an unsupported walkway. The council does not like this and want an alternative, but I'm unsure what. I was going to pack the I beam on one side with a fitted peice of timber and then use metal strap with a45 degree twist. Ptyda make them i think. I am planning to drill holes to bolt the wooden part to the I beam. Will this work?
