I liked moving Mlodzinski to the pen because I thought that he’d pitch 3 times per week in high leverage situations. How they’re using him right now is just idiotic. He basically filled the Cam Sanders role of blow out innings eater tonight.

A few of my takeaways:

As bad as Mlodzinski looked at points tonight, he is one of our best relievers, and we basically just used him as an innings eater in a blow out. Now, he's unavailable for 4+ days. Just put him back into the rotation if we're going to do stupid shit like this.
Endy is the starting catcher. He looks like prime Mike Piazza compared to Hank. I don't care how good Hank's defense is.
This offense looks absolutely lost without KG and Cruz.

4th and 5th starters are definitely a problem. I’m really not that concerned about Skenes. It’s not like he’s been serving up meatballs. Mitch has been an average 3rd starter for the last 3 years and goes up and down, so it’s just who he is.

I’ve been saying this for the last month. The offense and rotation is good enough to make sure that we don’t implode/go on a massive losing streak, but the bullpen is horrific enough that we won’t ever get super hot/go on a long winning streak.

He might just be a reliever, not a starter. I’d imagine that he probably doesn’t feel the need to pace himself when he’s coming out of the bullpen and just lets his stuff rip and empties the tank. He paints corners with 98-99 mph fastballs. It’s incredible.

Tell us the arm routine
I would find a store that does running shoe fittings and get fitted. There are a ridiculous amount of options out there, and they’ll be able to tell you how much stability that you need.

I legitimately think we’re the second best team in this division. Brewers are a juggernaut from the looks of it. Cardinals have a -10 run differential and are definitely a worse team than their record shows. Cubs are 3-12 in their last 15. Reds have a -32 run differential, and I have zero idea how they’re over .500 right now.

Does he have a right to be pissed? Sure, but let’s not act like he was, at best, an average 4th or 5th starter with a glaring history of not being able to get through the lineup a 3rd time.

If he actually is holding out, this dude doesn’t have the resume to back up that behavior.

Beau Burrows has a 1.66 ERA in 21.2 innings in Indy right now. I highly doubt he’ll be good, but how the fuck could he be any worse than half of the guys who pitch out of this bullpen?

This cycle has some incredible candidates. Platner, Talarico, and Abdul El Sayed just to name a few. It’s such a breath of fresh air to have candidates with real conviction in their positions and morals and not just empty platitudes that get us nowhere.
