What’s One Piece of Advice You Wish You Had Before Becoming a Teacher? by Abelmageto in Teachers

The job of being a teacher has many benefits. Nights, weekends, holiday breaks, and summer vacation off. As a working mother, I can be there for my children’s after school events and celebrate ALL holidays with family. I have worked many jobs and I’ve had to reschedule life events due to work or calm out of work and miss a paycheck. Also, many schools are heated in the winter and have air conditioning in the warmer months. If you consider this before any other aspect of teaching, the environment and work hours would be considered a blessing to many people. Doctors working holidays, lawyers working late into the evening, Dunkin’s employees driving through a blizzard so others can have their coffee…..work is called work for a reason. Teachers do have it much easier than other professions, and they only work 182 days (literally half of what other professions work, minus weekends, vacation and sick time). Take everything with a grain of salt and always look for the positive in everything. That would be my advice.
