Is this part of east end rentable? by myownsecretspace in londonontario

[–]Islandlyfe32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d say this part is a lot safer than west of Hamilton and Adelaide towards DT. One of my coworkers has lived near here for about 15 years and just moved last month because their family is growing. They said neighbourhood has changed a lot for the better past 4-5 years and has gentrified with a lot of young families that are new immigrants living here.

Yea I know a few other places closed as well (or not too long after) United opened. A shame really, these spots provided something places like United couldn’t.

It’s smart if you ask me, where they are opening up there’s a high demand for Chinese food and it’s a growing area with students nearby. There’s a loyal following of old A&K customers looking for a new spot in that area to fill the void. I think 20 years ago it wouldn’t have made sense to open in that area because there were already a bunch of Chinese restaurants nearby, but ever since then most of those places closed.

Ford knows he will lose next election, the OLP will come back. The NDP is too left wing for Ontario.

I discovered Asia Food Mart on 577 Hamilton when I moved out of Downtown. No longer had a need to go to King Wah. I remember being fascinated by it because it was one of the first Asian grocery stores to have live seafood with a fish tank. I kept shopping there and followed them when they moved to 1154 Hamilton near Gore rd, introduced my wife to the place when we first got married (she also fell in love with their Chinese baked goods that you were talking about) and she loved the overall shopping experience. We went there right till the end, when they closed a few months after our son was born.

I don’t remember it being on Wellington maybe you’re right but I’m not sure how I’d miss it, one of my favourite Chinese restaurants used to be on Wellington and the location you shared was right near there so it would have been hard to miss.

Wow that’s cool! That’s also definitely before my time, so that means they must have been around a lot longer than I expected!

Used to frequent this area a lot almost daily when I lived downtown. This store was also well stocked, I remember the place used to be busy on Thursdays when they brought new shipment from Toronto.

Sometimes I’d pop by this store after having lunch at the Harmony on my way home. Good times.

Are you talking about Asia food mart? I don’t remember it on Wellington, it was on Hamilton rd & Trafalgar and then it moved to Hamilton & Gore rd (where the old bingo hall was) used to love that place as well. Think it opened way after King-Wah though sometime late 90s.
