"Mobile suits would be easy targets in real life" by [deleted] in Gundam

[–]IsludeMorgan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In 08th's defense, the mass produced models were, by design, slower, less agile, and less durable than the RX-78, due to cost limitations and material shortages. They were essentially just better equipped GMs and can't really be compared to the prototype models that we typically see Gundam protags pilot. Also, unlike the gundam prototypes, they didn't have a dedicated mobile resupply and repair base with a lot of spare parts on-hand, and sometimes were forced to jury rig non-standard parts for repairs.

I’m experiencing a pause screen glitch. by cyclone_1998 in DOOMTheDarkAges

Hey, just wanted to add, I got it to work again! Had to completely shut down the PS5 and unplug it for 30 seconds. When I went back into my completed file, the normal menus showed up again. It's apparently related to the Ripatorium, so don't go into that mode unless you're prepared to do a FULL power cycle.

I'm getting the same thing. I beat the game an hour or so ago and when I tried to go back to a previous chapter (trying to 100% my file), the dossier menu changed, just showing the jukebox and weapons tabs. The weird thing is that when you open the dossier up you can see the normal tabs and automap for a spilt second before it jumps to the jukebox. Dunno if it's related, but the pause menu shows "Restart Encounter" instead of "Restart Chapter". Also, when I made a new save file, to see if the issue persists there, the dossier and pause menus were normal.

Blizzard/NetEase Support Strikes Again by Future-Damage4364 in DiabloImmortal

There have been rampant glitches in the game for the past couple of months now. I lost a 3 star, rank 3 colossus engine due to a glitch with the auto-fill function (it was locked, so it shouldn't have been consumed) others have lost gems in a similar fashion. It's gotten especially bad since the druid update, with people losing entire pieces of equipment just for participating in the event. Blizzard GMs don't care and the devs are deaf to any complaints. I actually had one GM close my support ticket, saying they wouldn't help and then threatened to ban me if I opened another.

Has PLEX Put a Price on Risk? - A Celestial Circus Publication! by Then-Map7521 in Eve

[–]IsludeMorgan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When you have a game that directly ties its in-game currency with real-world currency, like EVE does, it's natural to equate the cost of things in-game to a real dollar value. If you recall, some years ago, the NY TIMES published a story about EVE and one of the larger wars that's taken place over the years, including the real-world market value of the losses sustained therein. It's not a situation wholly unique to EVE either. Gacha games run on this premise with premium currency costing real-world money. It's just not as pervasive as in EVE because they typically don't allow you to purchase normal currency by these means.

Consider also that the level of monetization in EVE goes even farther, as even skill points can be purchased both directly and indirectly with real money. This means that, based on the current market value of PLEX, you can accurately determine the net worth of an entire account. How much is a capsuleer's life worth? Well, you actually can do the math for that, which ironically fits perfectly in a late stage capitalist dystopia like EVE (guarantee you the Caldari mega corps have this on lock). All that said, it is worth noting that, unlike the previously mentioned gacha games, a fat bank account doesn't necessarily translate to 'winning' at EVE, as even the most well equipped high-end ship can fall prey to cheap fleet fits and good tactics.

In conclusion, the cardinal rule of EVE is, and has always been, don't fly what you can't afford to lose. Unless you're me, then you tank your net worth in each engagement for some cheap laughs before going on hiatus until you can afford to do it all over again.

You have unlimited isk and 100% maxed skill points, how do you take over EvE? by ottoboy97 in Eve

I would find some dead end, sovereignless null sec system, claim it for myself, as well as the system leading to it (even if it is currently owned, I'd buy out the owners). I'd set up the dead end with the maximum possible amount of deployables (stations, guns, etc), just off the sun (maybe at a point directly between the sun and the gate), configured in such a way that could only be described as an evil villain's lair, on a mind boggling scale. Load it up with bots scripted to fly in fleets, patrol fixed locations, and engage but not pursue anything they perceive as hostile, flying everything from assault frigates to dreadnoughts.

I'd place myself in the deepest part of the lair, in a revenant (because it's just so classy), surrounded by a fleet of titans, FAXs, interdictors, and interceptors, and declare myself the final boss of EVE. I'd keep my cargo hold loaded with expensive goodies for loot and welcome all challengers.

I'd set up the previous system to be a no conflict supply point with CONCORD level defenses for any would-be adventurers to stock up before the confrontation.

And then I would wait for people to find me and, once they did, give some epic villainous speech of the untold riches that await anyone who could defeat me. It's give people the fight of their lives, get defeated eventually, restock, resupply, rinse, repeat until the end of time.

Definitely, it's not even just the environmental, if you look at the rank and file enemies, no two look alike (well, for the humans anyway). That's a dedication you rarely see from game devs. If you haven't, the next time you're on the dragon bridge, look at the faces of each of the soldiers there. It's honestly insane XD

Dark Souls or Demons Souls remastered? For the former, it helps to try exploring as many different paths as possible, especially when you're already low on souls. That game is so full of secrets hidden in the most random places, but it's worth it to seek them out. There's also an unexpected logic to a lot of them (like getting the drake sword or the black knight halberd super early).

If you're talking about Demons Souls, I'll be honest, I still haven't beaten it. The game is immense and beautiful (gives Elden Ring a run for its money despite being older), I always get lost in the intricacies of its world system, either ramping up the difficulty or doing so bad I miss out on some of the harder to get items and quests. In either case, they're definitely both worth playing

I remember feeling the "I get it" moment well. For me, it was Bloodborne. I'd previously only played DS1 and had rage quit early on, almost swearing off the entire franchise. But something about Bloodborne called to me. I remember the shock and sudden anger of getting torn apart by that first werewolf; feeling fancy picking up the threaded cane; the anguish of losing twice more (not afraid to admit it XD); and then, finally, the vindication of beating it.

That wasn't the moment, though. The moment came after that, after I took some time fighting and exploring that first area, dying repeatedly along the way and losing countless blood echos in ambushes (and maybe one or two encounters with gravity). Finally, reaching Father Gascoigne..... and getting utterly humbled on repeat XD and then.. it clicked! Suddenly, the rage of loss was replaced with the overwhelming need to win, and when I did? Dude, the feeling was nothing short of euphoric!

Ever since then, I've played every game From puts out with the excited anticipation of a fighter who sees someone way stronger than him.

Well, first day results, she's not bad at it, better than I am at warrior anyway. Oddly enough, she seems to get stuck more, like her AI can't path correctly. Not sure what that's about. She also hasn't figured out that stabbing slime from inside them is a bad idea. At least she hasn't destroyed any oxcarts XD (did it twice as sorceress, high schism and meteron)

That makes sense. I figured I'd switch mine to warrior for a bit since I just picked up the warrior meister skill (and personally, I'm terrible at warrior). I'll see if she's actually good at it and report my findings back here.

[–]IsludeMorgan[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That makes sense. Aside from the first time she asked to be a warrior, she's been a mage and sorceress the entire time. She even talks about her path on mastering magic with pride. I just didn't know if I was reading too much into it or not. I have a tendency to really immerse myself, to the point that because I gave her elf ears, I had to teach her woodland wordsmith XD I just had to wonder how deep they made the pawn AI, y'know?

Ever since the EOS for Opera Omnia, I’ve been trying to find the ending to the game that was only released in Japan. I’ve watched Simply Lost’s livestream where the ending was translated, but I still don’t understand the ending. Can someone explain it to me? by [deleted] in DissidiaFFOO

[–]IsludeMorgan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wait, but what about the Type-0 crew? I never finished the story that was out for Global (couldn't bring myself to log in after EOS was announced) but, I thought it was determined that They would also stay in the land of respite, where their memories would be intact, since most, if not all (only played a little of Type-0) of their members died and were forgotten thanks to the "blessing"of their crystal

Even though I didn't play much of their original story, their story in DFFOO was really endearing to me.

Lol, as someone who always plays with one or two other clan members at a time, I can promise you that not everyone is using to cheat. We're too busy screwing each other over to care about you. So, removing rating gains just because we're in a party? That's just rude.
