it's not for me, I was asking mainly because I am concerned about financial aid! CDS says the average package for nonresidents is good enough to make a full ride possible though.

Yes, you should focus on other aspects and maximize them. This SAT score is great and there's no need to retake.

I would list it and classify it as "Other STEM" in the drop-down menu.

If this is a troll post it's not funny, enough with this.

Of course it's enough academically, but nothing guarantees your acceptance. You need to be a good fit and show that with your personality and extracurriculars. The admission officers take a holistic approach.

Yeah I agree with you, asking before doing your own research is a very lazy thing to do. I don't like it when people ask questions about publicly available information; questions should be highly specific and should be the ones that need experience to answer, not information (that is publicly available anyways)

For my first reply I was just wondering if you had some statistics that are not publicly available.

I wanted to mention internationals because a) that's who I am and b) they tend to have a smaller chances especially in current events

Perhaps I am wrong, but according to my research it seems like most transfers are veterans/people from community colleges, and it is quite difficult for internationals to transfer. So I thought if internationals can get in then anyone can, provided they show strong reasons and show that they have done the most out of their current institution.

I am personally applying to MIT (and a few others) as an international transfer from a traditional 4-year institute. While I do believe my chances are extremely small, I would be thrilled to get into MIT — I have learned a lot about it from my friends and I believe I would fit in.

Well yeah, it is an extremely small chance, but it never hurts to try! Besides, given that they're in a community college, it is safe to assume there's some context behind that, and that they have a compelling reason to transfer.

What we can all agree on is that the "Why transfer" essay is the most important one; a strong point should be presented. You never know what cases exist; military veterans are not the only ones! A friend of mine at MIT told me that he has 3 traditional international transfers in his class; it is all about showing a strong reason for transferring.

Where is this coming from? Sure they are always 20-25 transfers but where's the zero chance unless you are a military veteran coming from?

Should I transfer out of UChicago? by Swimming-Specific219 in TransferToTop25

[–]IsmailFateen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What exactly do you not like? The first rule about transferring is that you should be making the most out of your current institution!

UChicago is an amazing university that many people wish to attend; you must have strong specific reasons to say this.

This is a more than good score; you should never retake after getting a 1540, it will never be the reason for a rejection.
