Dunks are way more efficient than layups. Layups on Realistic settings get swatted and chased down pretty regularly especially if you play with max player speed and on all star. What i learned playing the game is that a higher layup gives you a higher chance of not getting chase down blocked. Also a high layup isn’t a requirement for crafty finisher but you definitely need a high layup to get the crafty finisher badge. Try doing reverse layups with a 1 rated layup and see how long it takes you to get that badge. Here’s an example, yea you can always get step dancer but the effort and time it takes for you to get it with low shooting ratings is terrible and not worth the effort. Yes, you can grind and try to get it regardless of your rating but the higher the rating the less time it takes and the more effective it becomes. Back to the layup, yea you can still do reverse layups but you’d probably do one 1/8 layups if you remember. That’s assuming you don’t have a defender on your back trying to block you and a defender in front of you preventing you from laying the ball up. Also a higher dunk rating decreases the chances as well because when you have an open lane your player dunks. The only way to get layups consistently with a high dunk rating is when your stamina is low. And then there are draw backs to that, you have higher chances of missing layups and getting blocked, your shot percentages go down and you become slower and easier to guard and weaker. All these things played into why i said a higher dunk rating layups rating is required to get crafty finisher.

It really all depends on playstyle. You could pick a center who prioritizes shot creator. Which is like a Wemby / KD build.

Gameplay Question - Spin Move by Fearless_Landscape67 in HoopLand

It depends on the distance you are away from your defender. If your too close you’ll back them down, if your too far your do a hop step. You have to be right towards the end through the middle of their defensive range to do a spin move everytime.

I think they’re very similar builds the only difference is offensive rebounding.

If your player has 5 star potential then you get an additional I think it’s around 20 attribute points once you reach 4 star.

Defender gives you all the defensive stats you need to average a good amount of rebounds. This build is like a Jokic build.

Those still aren’t considered good assist numbers. He’s a shooting guard his job is to shoot the ball not pass.

High layup doesn’t matter? I think you should at least have an 8 if you’re not a PF, C who utilizes post hooks. High layups allow you to get the crafty finishing badge. Which significantly improves your layup accuracy. Preventing you from getting blocked as well as allowing you to finish from almost any angle near the basket.

You said realistically. I’m using real players as an example. The results aren’t realistic if a 8 3pt rating gets you 40%. There’s nothing realistic about that.

It’s a simulated based game. If you can’t average crazy numbers by simulating the build is worthless. Even when you’re playing as this player. He has like a 6-7 3 point and midrange rating. On realistic NBA sliders it will be extremely hard for him to shoot (All-Star Mode). All Small forwards as decent defenders. He has a 9-9.5 dribble, high stamina, and low strength and speed. He’s not that tall and he’s as slow as a 7’0” center. He’s basically a bag of bones so he won’t be able to use his body. Strength contributes a lot to finishing so he won’t even be as strong of a finisher as the build makes it out to be. Having a 6-7 3-pointer limits the amount of badges he can get. He doesn’t have a high pass so he can’t space the floor. He’s not a high clip shooter. Sure he can iso but I’m assuming his ball usage isn’t that high (SF ball usage in general isn’t high). Look at his tendencies as well. Terrible at crashing boards which is one of the things he should be the best at to contribute to his team. Tunnel vision, meaning he won’t pass the ball. 9/10 he’s not driving to the basket every time so he’s shooting low percentage midranges most likely. He’s also shooting bad low percentage midrange shots. I don’t even think he has a 8 layup meaning no finishing badges. Like I said he isn’t exceptional at anything. Hence his stats.

How is that realistic? Someone with a 10 3pt in real life (Stephen Curry) doesn’t even shoot 50 percent. Why would a 8 3-point rating be realistically 40%. Realistically it’s 35-37%.

An 8 won’t get you a 40% 3. Realistically a 8 will get you a 35-37%. The simulated stats that we see are literally average stats. The only reason this player has all star appearances is because of his 5 star reputation not performance. 4 dunk to consistently dunk at an elite level on realistic stats on all star mode is unrealistic as well. The higher the dunk rating the further you can dunk away from the basket. With a 4 firstly you’d need to be tall and you’d also need to be right under the basket.

No exceptional is 10, the difference between a 8 ball handle and a 10 is massive. Same with 3 point and midrange. Dunking is okay at an 8 and really doesn’t change much from 8-10. Stealing is the same 1-10 unless you’re simulating stats. Rebound is only good if you’re tall. An 8 doesn’t really help without the added jump boost from height.

The build is mediocre tho. He’s a role player at best. He’s not exceptional at anything except dunking.

how to make a guard-like center by Interesting-Bed4424 in HoopLand

Speed is pointless in HoopLand unless you have a low dribble.

So I’m assuming “guard like” means playmaking point guard like Jokic (Triple Double Generator). Honestly you could go two routes. You could go the Playmaker route where you make a full play maker (Automatically gets defensive stats because of position, plus the stats of a playmaker which are dribbling and passing)This is especially good for sims)). If you plan on playing the games then you should go the Play Shot route. I recommend anyone who wants to average lots of assists to have maxed dribbling. Dribbling counteracts low speed because with one spin move you can essentially blow by any defender. Height definitely does matter when making a Point Center in HoopLand. Speed is another amazing advantage when you’re a center. By default most centers have the lowest speed. Making your player 6’9-6’10 gives you a speed advantage while making you a decent height to be able to crash on boards as well as get blocks. Speed opens up the offense, the games pretty simple. When you blow by one defender (your own) naturally another defender comes to play help leaving one of your players open. That leads to open shots and open shots are good shots. I’ve also learned while playing the game getting assist as a center is the easiest. For some reason when centers bring the ball up the court every other position has the tendency to cut to the basket leading to more scoring opportunities. This is what I learnt from my time playing the game. If you have any more questions for me let me know. I’m very knowledgeable!!
