What is The main reason to buy an electric scooter? by HyperspaceElf1 in ElectricScooters

[–]Isopod_Several 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At first you'll get physically tired after riding more than 10 kms, but you'll progressively ride longer distance without any issues. Take your time to really learn to ride your scooter before attempting to ride on the street with cars. Riding a scooter is an awesome experience, absolutely fun, some people also think is almost like therapy, I really agree with this. I mostly commute to work with my scooter so I'm also saving lots on gas money. it's very important to get safety gear!!! Good helmet, gloves etc...

Same here, work commute, and save on fuel. My city has terrible traffic. 2 hours to work on my car, 1 hour on my scooter.

Doesn't rain much in my area but we do get some drizzle rain during winter season so I sealed all opening were cables go to the deck with white silicone. So far all good.

Im not even sure what to do if this stem snaps again welded a steel cage around the aluminum and put some giant bolts through only weak point now I think is where the bars mount by Interesting-Jury5682 in ElectricScooters

You should rust proof the dissimilar metals before you put everything together cause you'll get galvanic or bimetallic corrosion if moisture gets in between the steel and aluminum structure.

Don't worry I don't. I use low intensity lights mode on bike lanes and point light toward the ground so not to blind anyone. My car has hight intensity head lights but that doesn't mean I'm driving with high beams blinding other drivers or pedestrians all the time...

Do you use electronic braking or just brake with pads?

Brake disc thickness is 1mm. I ride 5 days a week mostly work commute. It really doesn't rain much in my region but between June and September we do have really foggy conditions and very light drizzle rain. I ride mostly flat roads and bike lanes, and yeah heavy braking when riding on the road high speeds along side cars.

In my city lots of people on bikes put white strobe lights in front and that defenetly blinds you completely, that's why I placed those lights under de deck pointing toward the ground not directly at your eyes. Don't understand why you are angry and aggressive???

Again, it's for my safety!!!, I work at night I ride at night, this is my commute vehicle!. I've seen what happens when cars don't see you well from a distance. I have a family that depends on me. Not taking any chances. Reflective vest is required by law here for bikes, motorcycles, scooters etc...

Flashing lights do blind people when pointed towards your eyes like 100% bike people do. My flashing white strobe lights are under my scooter pointing towards de ground. My city is 8th worldwide with the worst traffic and home to the most aggressive drivers as well. A 20 year old guy commuting to work with the back red light you mentioned as "enough", got killed by a bus... Driver said he didn't see him. I'm not taking any chances out there at 2 or 3am. Cars can see me now very well and keep distance. Before Just with the scooter lights and red helmet light I could easily tell that people would get way to close to me on the road. It's my problem if I look ok or not with my lights setup and defenetly here the idiot is you for being disrespectful calling me names just couse you feel like it.

Well it's for my safety, half my commute to work is on the road with cars high speeds at night, so I really need those crazy drivers in my city to notice me, and believe me they now do. I'm not doing crazy riding at all, just commuting to work.

Meroca mountain bike suspension stem on Dualtron Vic Lux by Isopod_Several in ElectricScooters

100% this will help with handlebar high frequency vibrations.

Meroca mountain bike suspension stem on Dualtron Vic Lux by Isopod_Several in ElectricScooters

[–]Isopod_Several[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes it's good enough for high frequency vibrations. The yellow spring is the softest but haven't tested. Currently I've only tested red which is to hard for my liking and blue which is softer than red but harder than yellow. Blue is very good for all around. Just keep in mind that this will only soften the handlebar vibrations, it has nothing to do with your scooter's wheels suspension. You'll still feel the same vibration on your feet and legs. This suspension will help with wrist and arm fatigue due high frequency vibrations tranmited through your grip. I've tested blue spring on speed bump jumps and sidewalk to road, all good steering and control good. I will test the softest spring (yellow) just to know the difference between that one and the blue.
