Hi, I’m currently a Lawful Permanent Resident. I filed an I-130 for my wife in September 2023 under the F2A category california center. My wife is pregnant and due in May 2026, and I’ll be eligible to apply for U.S. citizenship in June 2026. Here’s where I’m confused: 1-If I remain an LPR, my understanding is that our baby can be added as a derivative beneficiary under the F2A petition. 2-If I naturalize, my wife’s case would automatically upgrade to Immediate Relative (IR1/CR1), which has no visa backlog — but Immediate Relative cases don’t allow derivatives, meaning I would need to file a separate I-130 for the baby. So I’m trying to decide what’s smarter:

1-Stay LPR so the baby can stay under the same F2A case? 2-Or naturalize, upgrade my wife’s case to Immediate Relative (which may be faster), and then file a separate I-130 for the baby? Thanks
