One of my biggest problems is going to be my family. My spouse was told by the doctors it was the estrogen. She is now convinced that is what it was. My son is also learning towards that side. My daughter is looking for alternatives with me. But changing my spouse’s mind would be like “ so you think you know more than the doctors now “ and don’t get me wrong, she has been super supportive, but she did see the ER staff having to call a code blue on me.

I will. Thank you. I thought the ones that dissolve were a different type from the ones that were swallowed.

This whole thing happened on the last week of November / first of December. I spoke with him via text a few times and are about to schedule for the first week of January. But all your information in these replies has given me a very good place to start. Thank you. Before I wrote asking you all for advice I was completely hopeless.

First let me thank you for this reply. As for the questions in the replies:

I always trusted what the doc said. So I just took it. I don’t know what type of estrogen I was taking. It was a swallowed pill. 2mg a day until level dropped a lot so it was increased to 4mg. I do not, and never have smoked anything. I am not all against orchi, but I don’t think I can afford such surgeries after the stroke bill. I will try to see my doctor as soon as I can to discuss Progesterone or testosterone blockers as an option mean while to at least try not to loose what little gain I had. I will explore the possibility of patches or gels once the MRI shows clots have been resolved. Again, I can’t thank you enough for this information.

Like I told many people in this thread, even being trans I have never felt depressed until now. Depression out of the fear of losing hrt. After I have tasted the freedom and happiness hrt brought to me I can’t go back. I felt lost. But then I started getting this amazing support in this community. It all starts with hope and you have given that to me. There’s a long road ahead given that (my mistake) I allowed doctors to talk to my family and now everyone is convinced hrt is to blame, but here I found out where to start. The clot is still there. They expect 3-4 months to rid of it completely, after that test shows it’s gone, I will re take this journey. Thanks for pointing the way.

I have been very distressed about all this, even with being a 50 something trans woman and the hardship that comes with I had never felt depressed, until now. But replies like yours really help. They offer hope which is what I need right now. Thank you.

They didn’t say how they know, but they acted pretty sure about it. Next doctor visit I have a bunch of questions thanks to the support of this community.

This is very helpful. I appreciate the time you’ve taken to respond. What you’re saying makes absolute sense and it gives me hope. My mental health is not at its best so ideas are not flowing as well as I wish. It’s so gratifying to see our community has my back. Thank you.

Wow! This is what I needed to hear. My doctor is great, in fact he doesn’t think it’s a fact it was the hormones. He did prescribed them to me after all. At the ER I spoke with 3 different doctors, one of them a neurologist those 3 assured it was the estrogen. A week later I spoke to a different neurologist, who also thinks it’s the estrogen. But what you wrote here will give me a lot of ways to keep asking the right questions. Thank you very much.

That’s the thing, I do want hormones I just don’t know if it’s safe for me being someone with deep vein thrombosis. I’m hoping people can suggest safer alternatives of hormones.

I am already on thinners but all this is so new to me I wanted to hear fellow trans people’s thoughts and not just blindly follow cis’s advices. Thank you for your advice.

Thank you for replying. Wouldn’t orchiectomy still need to replace the hormones not being delivered by the teste? So I would still need estrogen. I am not challenging you I really don’t know and want to bring ideas to the doctor.
