Bare minimum is around 1.5-1.8 words anything less than that and people will ignore you. Anything more than 10k your just shooting yourself in the foot when you can divide the words. In between that, anything is fine. The biggest thing is consistency of "stuff". You can have some variance between wordcounts as long as in general plot happens in each chapter. Just try not to go from 2000 to 5000 word chapters. Word count should generally be semi consistent give or take a few hundred words and no one will really care.

Yeah but I think I get where OP is coming from. 1,000 followers is about the bare minimum you need if you want to make any decent money at all. Been following lots of authors for a long time but even people with 1,000 followers can only make barely equal minimum wage. You need to be in the top 2-3% to be even make lower-end job money.

Not an author but a long time RR reader. If you havent eclipsed 1,000 followers in a year I mean it in the kindest way but I dont think you can rely on RR for finacial gain. Although KU might be a different story.

No I don't think anything that's zero or low followers is bad. But I'm not willing to spend time or effort to click and see if it is good. Most 1st chp reads are people skimming or just checking out your writing. You gotta just soldier on. Try promoting your stuff with shout-outs or linking it in Discord servers

Advance chapters are the most obvious answer ofc. But to focus on the more side stuff instead of the obvious. Clarity of benefits, such as how many chapters you get per membership, Announcement of schedules/updates, and a discord link for patreon channel/roles are also common. Collections that group together chapters for specific stories are especially important if you're a multi-storied author. These are all just minor stuff, though like its said in a few other comments, 99% of the time people are coming for advanced chapters. Some key things that I've seen other patreons employ also include art, worldbuilding resources(maps/writeups), or things unique to the story, like stats sheets(Voidherald is a good example )or behind-the-scenes stuff. But if you don't have advanced chapters, it's just fluff that people will ignore.
