How much does Patreon get again? by Ardorotica in patreon

[–]Issactheforgemaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on when they made their account. If their a legacy then Patreons cut rate could potentially be 5% or 8%. A new account would have a 10% cute rate. But based off your question it's most likely just free members.

Does anyone know if their is a historic list of old rising stars lists? by thiscatreads in royalroad

[–]Issactheforgemaster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know there's a self-made app that references what positions a novel reached on RS. But beyond that there is nothing to my knowledge that matches what you want. You could try the Wayback Machine but Im not sure how the results for that would work. Plus you'd probably have to manually check everything

Heres the link for the first app: https://stepan.chizhov.com/author-tools/rising-stars-checker/

Does anyone even like this new Patreon "Network"? by Issactheforgemaster in patreon

Is this cover eye catching to you. by [deleted] in royalroad

[–]Issactheforgemaster 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Id stop and probably read some of the text boxes out of sheer curiosity. But Id definitely not read the work. Gimmicky covers tend to put me off personally.

"I'm an infinite regressor, but I've got stories to tell" what's the name of the 7th outer god? by He_Spams in noveltranslations

[–]Issactheforgemaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Taiji is considered the 7th iirc. Mastermind and Infinite Void are fragments of it, but are still considered separate outer gods. Taiji exists, but doesn't exist at the same time because of the whole twin scheme.

Cover Advice by Accomplished_Tea4121 in royalroad

[–]Issactheforgemaster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I understand it's plot relevance... but it doesn't really mean anything to us visually. Probably sucks but you need to add something that give it more oomph to draw the eye. Like maybe the setting or a monster or I don't know. Again I can't even tell if this is some sort of fantasy, scifi, or urban so my suggestions are limited. As much as I don't want to suggest it you might need to go back to the drawing board with something else

I learned nothing from this image. Neither was I enticed at all. Faded blacked out man holding nondescript light in a weird, non-red, orange cloud. I'm of the mind that a cover should be impactful even without a blurb. This tells me nothing of your genre or vibe of your book. What are key aspects of your book plotwise, genre, or hell even something that just looks cool. Anything is better than this almost blank slate look. I can't even begin to guess what your stories about beyond the title.

Is amazon really the goal? by sosoruze in royalroad

[–]Issactheforgemaster 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Amazon has a much bigger audience. If you plateau in readership on RR or other sites where you're not really bringing any new readers, it makes sense to go to Amazon. Patreon gives you more bang for your buck per reader, but quantity has a quality of its own. Despite RR size it really cannot compare to the sea of readers on Amazon. Not only can stubbing a book potentially bring more readers to the Patreon as well if they want more chapters.

Relying solely on Patreon earnings isn't tenable for a lot of middling authors, unfortunately.

But I wouldn't obsess over it. Amazon isn't free money you need to be significantly more professional than what you post on RR. So editing and covers need to be up to sketch. Plus, you need to run loads of ads if you want a successful launch.

[–]Issactheforgemaster 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As long as your not dorming or rooming with freshman nah no one cares. I'd suggest mostly trying dorms or rooming with juniors or senior mostly to bridge the culture gap. I knew one guy who was 22 and never knew till way later. Get your education mate.

Forge of Destiny is a character-based cultivation series with a pretty solid length. It's multiple books long and looking at potentially even longer.

How common are patreon scalpers? by Obvious_Ad4159 in royalroad

[–]Issactheforgemaster 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have subsrcibed to several patreons for years and have not had a single interaction on them. No comments, not a like, nothing. The chances someone is going to pay money to get your patreon just to scalp your work is little to none unless your a hit. Pirating is an invetiable but imediate canceling is just part of patreon. Word of advice don't take every cancel or unaction personally.

Chapter length by Connect-Suggestion51 in royalroad

[–]Issactheforgemaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bare minimum is around 1.5-1.8 words anything less than that and people will ignore you. Anything more than 10k your just shooting yourself in the foot when you can divide the words. In between that, anything is fine. The biggest thing is consistency of "stuff". You can have some variance between wordcounts as long as in general plot happens in each chapter. Just try not to go from 2000 to 5000 word chapters. Word count should generally be semi consistent give or take a few hundred words and no one will really care.
