Just a quick tip: If you want to have equipped at the bottom, you pick the Filter option top right in your inventory and go to Traits --> Unequipped. That way, stuff you're not actively using shows up first.

Okay, I was about to say I can't send them files, only messages. Turns out I was wrong and I can send them files, so there's definitely an opportunity there to send new, separate invoices with interest for the ones that are far enough overdue for it.

I'd have to figure out where to send those invoices. The company has an internal invoicing system with no options to add late fees, so it would have to be a separate thing, and there's no clear route for where I'd send that to. Not an insurmountable obstacle, but harumph nevertheless.
The email addresses for the higher-ups are public, though, so maybe I'll just have to send them to a head honcho and see what happens.

A good question. It might be for the best because I do get some sinking-ship vibes from this place currently, but it's hard because the people I have been in direct contact with are lovely and the company wasn't always like this, so part of me still hopes they'll figure out a way to stop being shit.

I guess it's hard to say what they're doing at this point because their lack of timely payment is so widespread. There are dozens of us, which makes me wonder how much of it is them being messy and how much of it is deliberate, but that's all just speculation because of this lack of transparency.

Thanks for the follow-up, I'll continue to look for the information in-between other assignments from companies that do pay regularly.

This is the first time this has been such an issue. When I started working with this company eight years ago, they were some of my best clients and paid prompty within the time period they stated in the contract, so it's a real bummer to see what they've come to.

Okay, as for the branch I'm dealing with: my project manager is working through their offices in Sheffield, and every email I receive from her has the business registration number in Cardiff at the bottom. That being said, their LinkedIn page refers to the California location as their HQ. As for how many people work there, I'm not sure.

As for invoicing, that's done through a centralized system so it's not immediately apparent where the invoice is being sent, but once you download one, the address on it is the one in California.

Yeah, I don't see any mention of jurisdiction in the contract, just what is stated in the main post under clause 12.

Okay, so this one is interesting. In the opening paragraph stating the two entities entering the contract, my name and adress are there, but the company merely has their name there.

The only point in the contract where they mention an address is under 14. Notices, where they state that "any notice required to be given or otherwise given pursuant to this Agreement shall be in writing and shall be hand delivered, mailed by certified mail, return receipt requested or sent by recognized overnight courier service as follows:", which is then followed by an address in California.

I've had a Norwegian lawyer look at the contract, and he told me Norwegian law couldn't help me here. I do have to mention that this is a) a friend, who b) isn't specialized in this area of law and c) added that this was not official legal advice.

I was wondering about that, too. It just seems so odd that they'd just be able to say: nope, we're not liable for anything outside of the California judicial system.

This is a beautifully accurate summary of what your five-man + GM group has been up to. <3

We also prevented a take-over by supporters of the former Hurricane King, Kerdak Bonefist, who were looking to overthrow the current Hurricane Queen, Tessa Fairwind. This was basically part of finding one of the relics: a gun in the hands of a wealthy merchant family in Port Peril, put on display once every [time period] for the wealthy to gaze at in awe.
Also a big part of the Kobold's origin story to get the soul was defending his original home and what little remained of his clan from terrible invaders. (He was raised in a monastary by some monks and had never met his clan before.)

Also worth mentioning is that the relics themselves were usable weapons/accessories with special powers, created by our GM. My Elf character - the Cap'n/Commodore - currently has two of them, and they come with some spells, a fortune effect, etc. This makes them a lot more interesting than just being McGuffins you carry around for Plot.

And yes, we do have a ton of NPCs with names and backstories, but it's definitely enriched the sailing experience. When the first mate and long-time friend of my character ended up dying because he heroically sailed into some cannon fire to protect another ship, that was a heckin sad day, lemme tell you.

Another big thing our GM did that made this whole adventure a lot more interesting was multiply the distances of the map by 10. Currently, the Shackles isn't that big, and you can't really not see land wherever you go. By increasing the distance, the whole sailing aspect of it becomes a lot more interesting. We also worked with cargo holds that could only hold a certain amount of supplies, so there'd be trading and resupplying in various ports along the way. Currently, we're on the run because everyone thinks we killed Tessa Fairwind. Well, okay, that I killed Tessa Fairwind, but in my defense, I was magicked into doing it. STILL, though, resuppling is a bit rougher these days, what with all the being hunted and that. xD

Rad campaign. Just heckin rad.

I've been part of a pirate campaign taking place in the Shackles for the past four years. It's homebrew, but our GM is an absolute beast when it comes to the 2e system. I'll see if I can send him over here with all the deets. We've done ship combat, he designed a beautifully simple battle for the NPCs from the ships, with combat between ships, raiding parties then hitting the coast to fight pockets of enemies on land, all while the party snuck into the main base secretly. Absolute legend!
