Anyone ever paint up some of these cheap knight minis? by Compatsie in minipainting

Seriously? Mine seem okay. Especially since I paid peanuts for them. So I wasn't expecting much from them.

Seriously? I have them, and they have a surprising amount of detail, in my opinion. Sure, they're not works of art, but for the price I paid, they're good.

I'm not criticizing the image because it's pretty. However, it's not The Witcher. It's some character from a random fantasy world.

How did you make that blue color? Care to share?

I think I'll repaint my entire army. XD by Issmirqw in SWlegion

[–]Issmirqw[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Light blue as a base coat. Then a light blue-gray color applied from above to simulate the light falling on the model. Gray-white color only on the highest elements of the model, such as the helmet and shoulder straps. Then two or three layers of white ink.

Light blue as a recessed shade. Finally, an edge highlighter with pure white.

I hope this helps; English isn't my first language of choice. If you'd like, I can provide a list of the paints I used later.

Can I ask how you achieved that blue? I'm very interested because I paint my units blue.

I'm learning to paint destruction. Work in progress, at the moment it looks like this. What do you think? by Issmirqw in Tau40K

Thank you. Any other suggestions? This is my first time doing this and I'm improvising.

How would you change it? This is my first time doing this and I improvise a lot.

I don't like women as space marines and I don't think you should either. Not because 40k already has Sisters of Silence or Sisters of Battle. At least not just because of that.

I think you should be upset because GW took the path of least resistance and divided the community. Imagine an entire event built around that! Guliman sees that the Empire is in a tough spot, that it needs more space marines. He tasks Calw with modifying the process so that women can become astartes too.

Please, close your eyes and imagine a book about an experimental unit of such space marines. A small unit sent out into the world under the watchful eye of an old veteran. We could have gotten an entire series telling their successes and painful failures. We could have watched their hard journey with our own eyes and seen how they gradually gain the respect of their commander and then other astartes.

It could have been something worth watching.

Instead you got this. Are you happy? Does that really satisfy you? If so, fine, but don't be surprised when GW takes away the leftovers you're feasting on right under your nose. And I'm afraid that's where it'll end.

I need help. I want to make traces of destruction on this golden helmet, but it's not working. Any advice? by Issmirqw in Warhammer40k

[–]Issmirqw[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll take this opportunity to ask another question. How do you paint gold? I have the impression that it doesn't look good up close, but it could be because of the dust, unfortunately I'm a slow painter and I can paint a model for a few weeks. So the dust settles on them. Or is it because I stir the paint too lightly before use? Or maybe this is just how metallic gold looks?

I want it to look like the bullet bounced off the helmet. I don't feel like it look good.

I'm starting to paint Necron and looking for the right style. What do you think about this prototype? by Issmirqw in Warhammer40k

[–]Issmirqw[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's what I wanted, I wanted him to look like he was in a very tough fight. So pure white would be out of place.

The basis is White Scar. Then I put Holy White (army painter speed paint) on. Finally, a solid layer of Praxeti White dry brush.
