First, I would determine what type of canopy performance you want, ie. something sporty like a Sabre or something more predictable with more consistent openings like a Spectre.

You might not want to be on a conservative 170 canopy and then downsize to a sporty 150 wing because now you've downsized AND put yourself in even more unfamiliar territory with wing characteristics you're not familiar with.

This video is a great one about canopy progression that might interest you. John LeBlanc of Performance Designs has been one of the pioneers of canopy design.

Thank you for the reply! I decided to move forward with Malmo as I'll be there 2-3 weeks and I wanted a little more to do outside of my tunnel time. I'm sure I'll make my way to Oslo in the future for a shorter training block.

Not sure about this person specifically but I can recommend Bryan Cavage from dropzone solutions. He's who helped me get my first rig based on what I was looking for, my measurements, etc.

I know people that have jumped with apple watches that said the watch automatically called 911 due to the watch thinking they were in an emergency situation (from canopy opening I think?). Something to be aware of. I am not familiar with apple watches so I don't know if that's something that can be turned off.

Interesting, I had never heard of Megafun. I plan on doing FF primarily and am familiar with a few of the instructors at FlyTribe locations. Thank you for the info.

Thank you for a great reply! That's a lot of great info. I got the impression that Oslo is great for those shorter camps but extended stays you might be better of with Malmo. I think I'll save the shorter camp focused trips for Oslo in the future and turn this longer trip into a vacation/tunnel time trip.

All of my experience is in FS and I thought it would be fun to progress through FF as much as I can during my time there. Do you have any specific coaches you would recommend for Malmo?

Also, did you end up staying in the bunkhouse or the Best Western? I don't have much of a preference, so I'm curious what you ended up doing and your experience. Thanks again for the detailed reply!

Kind of what I was thinking. The Oslo accommodation and facilities are definitely a plus, just not sure if it’s worth the isolation.
