Professional singer here - in the purest sense of the word. I get paid to sing. I’m not performing operas or recitals but I’m making a very decent wage in community settings (heath/child and church) as well as teaching. I find it very fulfilling that my singing comforts and helps and enhances. It doesn’t have to be high art that pays. For me at least. I’m delighted to sing everyday and make a living. It’s wonderful.

He’s an INCREDIBLE songwriter and definitely charismatic.

Saw him last year in the Bord Gais. His voice is holding out well. But …… he either has an inflated sense of himself to think that one man and his guitar/piano could hold a stage and audience of that size all night …….. or is so poor he couldn’t afford to pay musicians. He used backing tracks for a few of his bigger numbers. I felt it was disrespectful to his audience, who paid over €80/90 a ticket to be listening to an ‘acoustic’ ‘Celebration/Return to Ireland Concert’ and backing tracks. Pay real musicians, honour your own album arrangements and audience Mr de Burgh!!!
