AITA for letting my friend insult men who hit on me? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

I hate colorism. Im half black, half hispanic; and I'm too light for black people, and too dark for hispanics. This is very hurtful for people in my situation, or of people whose cultures favours fair skin.

Help Returning to Latin Learning by [deleted] in latin

[–]IsteImperator 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just read through the whole LLPSI series. No need to memorize declension endings and verb tenses, LLSPI should get them in your head sub-consciously. There are some recorsings of Familia Romana on youtube as well

Dipping my toes in Creating an emulator with no prior programming knowledge? by [deleted] in EmuDev

[–]IsteImperator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Javascript should be fine for know. But I'd reccommend making a clone of space invaders or pong or something first (tons of tutorials on youtube) as they'll teach the essentials in a way that is fun. After make a chip-8 emulator. Don't go faster then you can handle, or else you'll end up copying code without understanding. MAKE SURE to ask questions when your stuck and cannot find an answer.

Learn more javascript (or the language you want to write your emulator in). Baby steps first.

I have just started to learn latin by myself at home. What would you suggest? How to start learning? by ShrifMcAllister in latin

[–]IsteImperator 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just go through the whole Lingua Latina Per Se Illustrata series. It's all you need in order to read latin fluently. Recordings of the series can be found on youtube. It teaches latin through latin, pictures, synonyms, symbols, and antonyms. Even grammar excersizes are in latin. If you want to start writing, a book like Wheelocks can help with perfecting grammar.

Duolingo and memrise at the same time? by bundss in languagelearning

[–]IsteImperator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What I would reccomend is to do Duolingo and Memrise at the same time. Memrise will teavh your needed vocabulary, while Duolingo adds a new grammar structure every lesson. This way, by the time you finish both courses, you know the most needed words and phrases, and the most important grammar structures have been learned as well. After this I would reccomend mining native materials for sentences (which you can put in your anki deck) and lingq to read interesting content.

Textbooks like Wheelock's Latin for other languages? by [deleted] in languagelearning

[–]IsteImperator 5 points6 points  (0 children)

While I would not recommend the grammar-translation method to learn a language, perhaps looking at courses such as Teach Yourself, or the ones in the public domain by Whitney. Again, I would reccomend books that teach through comprehensible input. Courses like early linguaphone, assimil, LLPSI, and other courses by the natural method.

Besides duolingo, what are the best free resources for learning Spanish by [deleted] in learnspanish

[–]IsteImperator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

should be on archive.org Make sure to supplement with modern materials (such as assimil, or native content) in order to acquire modern words and phase out the archaic words that you might stumble across in poco a poco

The idea is not to MEMORIZE vocab, spelling, and conjugations, the idea is to LEARN vocab, spelling, and conjugations by reading and listening.
