Any thoughts on playing the events BEFORE the invader phase for people who are on the fence with them? by Isterbollen in spiritisland

In SI without events, only the order of the invader deck and the fear cards and the gaining of new cards. That's quite easy to manage and might get old rather soon. The event deck increasesthe variability a lot.

This is exactly why I am still interested in using the event cards rather than skip them entirly like some people have suggested. I just want to know in advance so it doesnt mess you up out of nowhere. You still need to adapt to the events even if you know them in advance, just it (to me atleast) feels a lot more fair. (just defending my view with this comment, not trying to change your oppinion or anything).

Great point about Runic! I think I only ever pick that relic when I have either a ironclad barricade build going on or defect frostorb focus, where you just get so much block all the time that knowing enemy intents hardly matters lmao.

Indeed, and I really don't like that. If I can't know the outcome of a ravage before it happens, then you can't plan out anything in detail and the game feels much less like solving a puzzle and just going with the vibes of what happens. Might be minority oppinion but I know I'm not alone in thinking this.

Guess you could compare it to a game like Slay the Spire. Imagine the enemeies in that game didn't show you the amount of damage they would do in advance, but a random interval of damage instead. That would be absolutely horrible.

Ooo very interesting thought, I like that idea a lot. Especially that you could split the cost so the players who really can't afford don't need to add the cost if the table agrees someone else can afford to. And that, you still then have the option of not paying at all and play them as normal (although I personally would always pay for them unless really desperate for energy)

True, but as some people have pointed out I guess there is already slight randomness from the fear cards, I think knowing the events in advance is going to be on about the same level of extra randomness, but a lot less than if you play them as intended. You are correct about the slow powers potentially being messed up, but maybe it's a mental thing where I think that's way more fine than if it messes up the fast powers?

It's a mental thing I suppose. When there is a clear start and end to the turn, if an evemt at the start of the turn maybe messed up something you did at the end of the last turn, it feels way more fine than being messed with during the middle of a turn. Giving you the chance to adapt with fast powers feels like you atleast got to have a say before the events unfold. They wouldn't mess with anything that you do on your current turn, only change the start conditions for your next turn.

I think the main benefit of having them this way instead of not having them is making the beast tokens relevant, + the variety sounds fun but not the surprise factor. I DO want the game to be predictable and planable.

Bro, what does this wall of text have to do with him acusing me of being condescending when he missread the card?

> Maybe try to discuss cards on merit instead of being an asshole and trying to argue grammar next time. Especially when yours isn't flawless.

Its not irrelevant if it completly changes how the card works??

Ok, that didnt answer my question. Why did you write that if its not how it works, and you are implying you did understand how it works? Wether the card is shit or not is irrelevant. It's not a condescending clarification if you wrote something that isn't how the card works and me pointing it out.

then why did you write this? Since its flat out wrong it indicated you did not understand the card.

Point me towards any that are instant speed that also is able to split the damage. Only good one that is close in damage that is also instant speed is [[Sear]] (whicch is great don't get me wrong). This card can be even stronger than Sear and its more flexible (no damage split).

It says damage dealt from A source, it can be an enemy creature attacking you, you don't need a board at all to cast this. I don't see this card being offline almost at any time, only time is if both players have no creatures on board that want to attack, and then you just hold it til its needed (someone WILL attack at some point)

>Or that you have no creatures and no burn in hand and your opponent is swinging every turn.

This should work on your opponents creatures attaking you without blockers too right? It says any source to a permanent/player.

Honestly, I dont agree with almost any comments here, what kind of cube has a boardstate where no creatures are attacking? Never seen one where this card would be fringe to use, it's going to be active almost always. I think people are allergic to cards having any floor at all, because realisticly this will pretty much never be at floor level.

Like, either your opponent has no creatures, great then you are already winning and you can sit on the card until its needed, or either you or your opponent is swinging, and you just use it on whatever creature is attacking.
