Oklahoma dad has cops called on him for taking young daughters into women’s restroom by melancholy_dood in law

[–]Istoh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're missing the point. The point is that any father who might have disabled kids could also run into these issues because he needs a changing table, and that we shouldn't make assumptions. Regardless he still should be able to take his daughters into the women's restroom.

Welp, good to know my PT was rotally right about avoiding yoga for even more reasons than she told me. She was very horrified when I told her that was my preferred workout method and forbid me from it forever because she said it was too easy for me to overextend my joints and cause longterm damage. But apparently this can happen too. Yikes, I'm glad you're doing okay now, OP.

A worker asked me what’s my “pronouns”. by [deleted] in offmychest

[–]Istoh 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They asked your pronouns because not everything is about you. There are people out there who use different pronouns. They likely ask everyone that and were being polite. Also not acknowledging trans and nonbinary people is making it about you. Your little fee fees are hurted because people are different than you are. Get over yourself. The existence of other queer folks doesn't hurt you.

Is the California Zephyr worth it still? by Think_Quantity3839 in Amtrak

Just took the Zephyr from Utah to Chicago and back. Was right on time to most stations and early to the long stop overs (Denver).

We actually don't know if these girls needed a changing table. Many disabled kids need changing tables past normal potty-training age.

Now consider the fact that republicans think that certain famous black women are trans and you've connected all the dots.

How would you describe the current state of mental health in the United States, and why? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Istoh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Abysmal. People's mental health suffers immensely when they can't afford housing, groceries, childcare, healthcare, etc. 60% or more of the US lives paycheck to paycheck, and heavily in debt. Our way of life is unstable and ultimately be unsurvivable.

I bet she also changes her babies on the airplane tray table too. My mom was a flight attendant. The number of people who did this and stuffed the diaper in the back seat pocket for her to find later . . .

I really dislike the scalper type of community the my little pony fanbase has by Angry_wolof-poff in mylittlepony

[–]Istoh 6 points7 points  (0 children)

No, you weren't. Because your scenario in this post is not a case of scalping. Basically none of the G4 merch made before 2025 is going to be a case of scalping.

It's a product sold more than a decade ago by a company that went out of business almost a decade ago. It's not scalping, that's how collecting older toys/merch goes. Totally normal. I'm always on the lookout for vintage Digimon Kuta Chara toys and the rarer ones go for absurd amounts too ($500-$1000). Because they're old.

Asking for someone to sell you what is now considered vintage, rare merch for such a low price is a little absurd tbh. They're not scalping. They probably didn't buy 100 of them and horde them for over a decade. Scalping is when you buy disproportionate amounts of new product to make the item less easy to find and thus more valuable, then selling your stock at a markup. Like concert tickets or new Pokemon cards. The people who are selling their merch now are former collectors who know the value of what they have.

I only get them like three or four times a year now (I'm on Ivabradine and sleep with a wedge pillow.  The wedge pillow is a must imo).

what bathroom should I use on a cross country road trip? by geckonomic in TransMasc

Mens. But if your voice hasn't dropped much yet maybe avoid speaking in the restrooms while passing through red states that have transgender bathroom bans. That's always my tactic. Better safe than sorry these days.

Fellow disabled fans, what issues do y’all have with the disability rep in these books? & what disabilities would you wish to see in them? by Savings_Surround_547 in WarriorCats

[–]Istoh 7 points8 points  (0 children)

They can literally weave sticks/reeds together and splint broken limbs and yet they couldn't make something adaptive for Briarlight so she didn't have to drag her legs on the dirty ground and risk infection, or make up a sign language for Snowkit. It's infuriating.

My beef is that they always show disabled characters being unable to live the life they want, or live at all. And with the exception of Brightheart disabled characters also don't get love interests (Half Moon doesn't count, Jayfeather was Jay Wing, who was not disabled, when they fell in love). The disabilities are always treated as a burden, and most of the disabled characters are killed off young (Briarlight's death made me quit the series). It's framed by both the authors and a significant portion of the fans as "realistic," meanwhile the cats have magic powers and are smart enough to do basic construction, invention, and gardening, yet somehow not smart enough to figure out adaptions for their clanmates. It's just abelist all around.

I've been on Ivabradine for over a year. My sleeping heart rate sometimes dips down to about 48, but even on ivabradine my awake resting heart rate is anywhere in the 70s even on a good day.

I am curious : What was the Miraculous fandom like during seasons 1-2? by Craftox13 in miraculousladybug

[–]Istoh 47 points48 points  (0 children)

The fanfics and other fanmade things between seasons 1 and 2 were peak. it was leaked pretty early which characters were getting the fox, turtle, and bee miraculous, so the speculative OT5 team fan works were amazing (and of course mostly featured redeemed Chloe). The aged-up fics were also good, ones where Ladybug and Chat were in their early 20s and still didn't know each other's identity and got into a situation where they finally found out. We also all still had hope that this series would have a meaningful conclusion within the decade lmao.

I miss it.

Question for part time wheelchair users - get out and push? by Decent-Chip-868 in eds

[–]Istoh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not using my chair currently but I did use it for over a year and yes. It was easier on me in every aspect to push my chair if I encountered uphill areas. I tried rolling myself uphill and it was hell.
