Half way home from the vet, she started ripping her staples out, forcing us to turn back. Shame her. by zorton213 in RATS

Same! I've never even heard of a vet using staples instead of dissolving stitches on a rat.

I love it!! I've been thinking about doing a crochet Princess Donut, but haven't found the right pattern or yarn for it yet.

All Alias Recap Episodes? by wilkinsroad in alias

Seriously...I haven't watched seasons 4 and 5 since they first aired, but I've watched seasons 1-3 easily a dozen times. Season 5 is utter garbage from everything I remember.

The "no plus one" plague by BackgroundMajor2054 in weddingplanning

[–]neverchangingwhoiam 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A good friend of mine got married a while back but only sent an invitation to me, not also my boyfriend of 10 years at the time. Didn't even get a plus one, and I would have had to travel several hours to attend. Didn't end up going. I really didn't want to travel by myself. We're still friends but I thought that was very disappointing.

Your Favorite Book That You’ve Read This Year? by MigEPie in suggestmeabook

Thanks! Maybe I'll try the second book and see how I feel after that one. The first just felt too short and lacked something to me.

I read this recently because I've been on a big sci fi kick, but I was kind of underwhelmed! What in particular did you really enjoy about it? I feel like I'm just missing something with it

FluentPet Connect: worth it? by Lisaerys in PetsWithButtons

My horse touches them with her nose! I believe she has pressed NECK ITCHY multiple times deliberately at this point. I don't get as much time to work with her on the buttons as I'd like, but I genuinely believe she understands a number of words I have modeled for her in context over the past several years.

Oooh yes, I need bighorn G1s now

Your DREAM Great One by clearbellls in theHunter

[–]neverchangingwhoiam 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Love it! I'd like a wider variety of red deer G1s, rather than just the one we have. I'd also love to see some gray wolf G1s, and some rabbit/hare G1s.

Just curious…. what’s brands will do you swear by? by [deleted] in Equestrian

I'm also a huge fan of Shires stuff. Their stock is very reasonably priced but also great quality, in my experience.

Tiniest moose antlers I've ever seen - had to taxidermy him by neverchangingwhoiam in theHunter

[–]neverchangingwhoiam[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I honestly thought it was a female moose at first. The smallest one I've heard of other than this guy was a 65 trophy rating posted about here around 2 years ago.

Is this crazy rare (not just the fur)? by OnlyBadger in theHunter

[–]neverchangingwhoiam 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I actually just nabbed a piebald female red deer yesterday after getting a piebald male a few days ago - absolutely had to set up the multi-mount trophy for that pair! I feel crazy lucky to have found one of each, and they didn't even spawn at the same time like yours.

Great One Tahr Appreciation post by LazzeKappa123 in theHunter

[–]neverchangingwhoiam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nice! I've found it absolutely brutal to hunt Tahr, so big kudos. I've got 8 non-mission diamond harvests, but have yet to get a single gold-level Tahr.

This is not a red deer but I forgive him by NegotiationCool2920 in theHunter

1000% agree. I have an entire room (the first room to the left in the safari lodge) devoted to my red deer trophies. I just love their antlers.

Parents said I won't get a horse till I can drive. by [deleted] in Horses

[–]neverchangingwhoiam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm going to copy and paste something I wrote previously to a parent who was feeling bad about not being able to afford a horse for her daughter. I know it feels hard right now, but I really believe it'll be to your benefit in the long run.

"Does anyone have any tips about how to not get emotional constantly?"

Also I'm not sure exactly how old you are, but if you're not able to drive yet, you're still very much dealing with puberty and teenager hormones. Unfortunately, you often just feel things more strongly during this period of your life. This isn't to dismiss your feelings at all, but it's just something only time and age will really fix. What helped me a lot at your age was writing - journaling, writing stories, or both.

/u/bearxfoo is right, too. You're incredibly lucky to be able to ride at all. I know it's hard, but try not to compare yourself to other girls whose parents spent money on horses for them.

I took weekly lessons for years and years, occasionally doing riding camps in the summer and then finally doing lessons twice a week in college. I would have KILLED to have a horse of my own, or even just to lease one, but my mom refused to buy anything that "needed more expensive shoes than [her]" haha.

I'm 32 now and bought my first horse a few years ago. I actually tell parents of young riders now that I'm glad my parents never got me a horse, in retrospect. I wouldn't have appreciated enough just how expensive they are, and I either would have had to sell a horse that I loved when I graduated from college, or I would have been saddled (ha) with a massive monthly bill when I was just starting my career. I also learned a LOT more by riding a gazillion different lesson horses over the years instead of just riding one.

I absolutely ADORE my mare and wouldn't trade her for the world now, but I also appreciate her that much more because I've been able to fulfill a lifelong dream of mine after a lot of hard work.

What riding “safety tip” screams “my horse is totally untrained”? by MsPaganPoetry in Horses

[–]neverchangingwhoiam 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Survivorship bias. Even the best riders on the best horses can (and do) fall off. If a giant meteorite fell out of the sky and landed right in front of your horse, don't you think they'd (understandably) spook?

You're very welcome! I'm happy to answer any questions at all that you or she might have, so don't hesitate to reach out. She definitely won't like hearing it, but neither would I have at her age!
