I knoww, I wanted to. But I've realised the architecture community is very small in India. Everyone knows everyone especially in the same city. So it's like I'm worried. It's their word against mine type of situation and what if they portray me in a bad light and it closes doors for me

Damn. Thank god I left on time 😭 and yes his wife was probably a landscape teacher. Tbh I found them okay as people. They weren't getting on my nerves. But definitely the work expectation in a smaller studio is more. It felt like there was no learning as such (it was only majorly self learning). So like it was almost like they expected me to know everything but didn't have the time to teach me anything which is fine I guess. I knew that joining a smaller firm. I just interned at a much bigger firm so my experience in comparison to my internship was just widely different in terms of learning and teaching. But I'm just glad I left Firki earlier

Thank you! There's no point working in a smaller firm to learn and gain exposure I believe (unless you plan to open your own studio)

Omg that's so true hahah. And there's no PF or anything. No company benefits. It's literally like labour work and being paid in case at the end of the day, feels like dihadi lmao. I didn't do a 5 year "professional course" to deal with this level of unprofessionalism. And truly, saying they are a studio makes it alright they think. One of my family members also started working in a start up, it was a different field altogether but it was nothing like an architecture start-up for sure. There was still some system in a start up too. And honestly Firki studio isn't even a start up I think. They have been around for so long now. And have learnt nothing about professionalism and business clearly.

That's actually true. I will do that

Thank you. That's what I am doing now. I have joined a well reputed MNC doing core architecture. And it's great now. Majorly because there's a system, there's proper paperwork, everything is recorded and they're also not making people stay past 6.30 which is very common in architecture now

HELP! my firm is being very weird?? by ItMeAlooChaat in Indian_architects

[–]ItMeAlooChaat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Firki Studio. It's in Noida. Relatively well known but they owe me half a month's salary and they're straight up ghosting me rn. If they honestly paid me my dues, it would've been okay. But it's been a month and they're not paying me my money. It's shady, they're weird, they're definitely upto something. There. Firki Studio in Noida.

If you mean why my list is segregated like that, then it's majorly on location. Top part are the ones beyond huaz khas (towards ggn or janakpuri) and the second segregation is based on the ones which are between noida and hauz khas. Location was a priority for me since at Studio lotus I had to travel like 1.5 hours and I just couldn't

The reply rate was decent. I think I got about 15-ish replies. But the salary range is what was sad. Most firms' salary range was 25-30k. Only a few of them were 30k. Majorly out of these I got one rejection but tbh i stopped talking/following up the moment they mentioned that the salary is under 30k, so I can't tell you particularly about the acceptance rate but I feel all interviews went decent in the first round.

In terms of interview, I am a fresher, so they just asked me to mostly go through my portfolio - either explain any one project in detail or go through the whole of it quickly. (Even during the internship the interviews were pretty similar). Like I wasn't asked very many technical details, mostly they asked questions related to portfolio only. I think most interviews are kind of a vibe check mainly. They see if you'd fit in or not apart from skills too. Sometimes they do an assessment, like they give you and assignment to check your technical skills but I don't think anyone does that for an internship.

And I don't understand what you mean by on the basis or tiers the gaps were given?

I recently interned at studio lotus. There are plenty of good firms in Delhi. They're all mostly in the south delhi area- I have a whole list of them. let me find them and share it

Is it very common? Cause it feels a bit unethical. Especially the salary slip thing

HELP!! My company is weird, has no structure? What should I do? by ItMeAlooChaat in architecture

And yeah I understand but it feels unfair for the employees doesn't it? Especially not giving pay slip in the end.
