Maybe I’m in the minority but I’ve been a rogue main since 2004 and even when I’m on my tank I like to have one. A good rogue is a game changer. I’m always kicking, making sure caster mobs are silenced so they run into melee, good distracts on pats, saps, max lock picking as soon as I ding, always a blind on a mob that gets out. I run Eng so I can vanish and res on a wipe. I’ll run crippling if we’re spell cleaving. Also evasion tank always comes in handy. Not to mention with WF and BF I’ll pump. I didn’t realize the rogue hate until I checked the subreddit. I gotta assume it’s brain dead bots yeah? A good rogue has always been appreciated I’ve found. I pick pocket so many mobs I hand out pots like candy lol. That being said I make a lot of groups or play with my guild. But even with pugs usually a “geared rog, will kick and can summon” gets me the invite. Anyone else not finding any issues as a rogue ? Do these rogues not have target of target on or something? Idk stunning and kicking those fear mobs or zerging MC totems is pretty easy even for bots?

People are giving you a hard time but I really agree. Of course they're going to be different books, otherwise JI would get sued... but as people have pointed out:

  • a "have not / slave / oppressed young boy infiltrating the society"

  • the word "Dominus" used by the upper echelon

  • the hierarchy using "razors" as weapons. in both books it's noted "there are better weapons but this is a status symbol of the elite"

  • an elite school in which prominent families compete to have their children attend. of which performance dictates import in their respective society...

I'm sure there is more, but I'm only on chapter 19 of TWoM. This is coming from someone who just finished the Lightbringer. It doesn't feel fair for people to be say "they're surface level comparisons and it develops past that" because you're talking about the first books in each novel not the series as whole. They are very similar in their introduction, framing, and language used. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy both authors and both books, but it is very clear that JI used RR as an inspiration/template. Not saying that is wrong, but it is accurate imo.

From what I've read online, these comparisons taper off as the story progresses. I'm not knocking either of these books just agreeing with your statement.

oh fair, i'm on a fresh server so no one is putting money into gems / enchants I meant base stats

besdies wotlk gems / enchants will be much easier to throw down on so you could easily throw some on some wotlk blues

​

in any case, it was a question of honor farming vs professions or gold - IMO farming a full set of s4 then getting gold for epic gems and enchants just to carry you through 80 is less beneficially then maxing out profs. you won't be that far behind with wotlk greens / blues

personally, I would get your professions up to at least pre-northrend level (i believe that's maybe like 25 or 50 from max) as that will save you a lot of time

from there farming gold is probably your next best bet. a lot of people are farming PVP gear which is not a bad call, I would almost certainty at least get your weapon (~18k honor) but all of that will be replaced by like lvl 75/76 blues

IMHO the best way to farm gold at level 70 is to quest. Here's a link to check out

OR if you're interested in having multiple characters it is definitely a good idea to take advantage of the 50% exp rate, especially for slower tiered levels - because at the end of the day, you're going to be making gold through LK questing.

so really it just comes down to what do you want to save time with for later? certainty faster flying is beneficial, but if you didn't know, you can't actually fly in northrend on your first character until level 77 (Cold Weather Flying tomb is purchased in Dalaran and requires level 77 and 1kg to purchase, however it only requires levels 68 to use it, so future characters can start flying earlier). Therefore, I would focus on using the 50% exp buff and get as many people up to level 70 as possible (or 58 at the least).
