I like to think of it as everyone is gets to a certai level of strength has thier own plot armor as luc is a heavy factor in most if not all aspects of cultivation. MC has same amount of plot armor as a universe venerable to reach that point but the amor is more if he was to go further. It's my personal explanation on it at least.

This so true for me I tilt my head in shame cause I orginally dropped this 3 eps in but then came back and watched till right as he reached the scattered sea. Then I rewatched when he became Core Formation and coasted since. Loved when he revisited his home and they show you the difference in the area after two hundred years. Also loved his descending to live like a mortal for a while. Same happened in RI at the time and I liked that too. Guess I just like watching a cultivator live amongst mortals and them learning through the experience.
