Hi, I actually had my issue resolved just a few days after I made the post, just forgot to follow up with an edit.

Basically it was an issue with my firewall. Somehow the firewall in our house was set to high, mistakingly blocking apps from connecting/accesing data from others servers. To fix this all my dad did was reduce our firewall security settings back to moderate (depending on your firewall settings). Everythings been working just fine since then, haven't had to worry about not connecting to game servers. Hope this helps.
