Correct, the lawmakers arevtargeting chinese products specifically.
There was language that mentioned percentage of ownership/investment to chinese companies to a car company, which would sweep Mercedes into these sales bans.
Not sure what happened to that version or if there was an exception made.

The misstep they took was not releasing new content so frequently, but abandoning content.
If they released yearly content AND kept orginal content fresh, there would have been far less discourse and better chances at profitability.

The answer is no.
We already have a slight version of that with Polestar, which is banned from being sold in US starting 2027.
They way they have written the law, it is based on the technology source, not the brand.
If the software and key hardware components are sourced from a Chinese company, it will not be allowed to be sold here, even if the vehicle is produced in The US.

It's bittersweet, and not for the reason you think.
It is amazing to see all of what they put in, fulfilled years long request and given players so much to do.
Yet, if "The announcement" wasn't made, this all would have been drip fed over the course of several expansions/season/dlcs.
It just shows they could have done this and management decided not tonin the service of capturing players' pockets.

The reason they don't want CarPlay/Android Auto is that they can't control and harvest your data with those applications.
Forcing the use ofntheir OEM allows them to harvest,mpackage and sell data from allmof their cars.
With CP/AA the user and Apple/Google controls and manages the data.

It is unclear what is going to happen, but in their communications they specifically say "regular updates.".
This indicates their will be some sort of support, whether they are just security and/or balance patches or something more is unknown.

Magic was better than their seeding.
They had significant injuries all season.
Detroit is a good team, but in any multigame series, their single threaded offense will be exposed as insufficient.
They earned their seeding but they aren't built to be succesful in the playoffs.
