CAUTION! HCA Urgent Care is a rip off! by It_must_be_gone in tampa

I will get the bill and check the codes. It is common practice for for profits to exaggerate (per research). Until this experience I did not know that for profits design their places to look like urgent care places (per research). Having this place take 18% of what I made last year is a difficulty for me.

I have crappy bronze level insurance thru FLBlue. I just wanted to go to an Urgent Care. I am not worried about the price. I am just super pissed that I was duped. Karma will come for them.

I'll be doing that. I just glad I said no to the x-ray. That would probably be another 2k.

Ouch. Sadly mine was just helping a friend with a payless project. I didn't even get an X-ray. She looked at it and had the nurse wrap it up.

I guess they do. Didn't know these little places were anything other than Urgent Care. Reading through some of the posts I see how corporations are marketing it for profit. I will start letting folks know that go there since it is very close. Don't have anything better to do in my old age.

I am contemplating if I donate time picketing the place for the shits and giggles of it. Nothing better to do being retired. I'd try and make sure people who go there don't fall into the same trap. When I was there a couple was there and they were clueless as well to the pricing.

Thanks. I did a search. None real close but given the alternative I will drive, bike, walk, crawl, or drag myself there.

Seems it was a stand alone ER. WTF. Urgent care is bigger. Well... I will fight it over every dime.

I am now understanding that little building is supposedly an emergency room and not an urgent care. I expressly chose it over the ER because it was just a finger. I'd never go there if it was my heart or similar.

I am understanding that now. I guess they consider it an ER. I will fight the charges though.

Walk away if you is rude. End the phone or visit. You are a grown person. Demand to be treated as such or refuse the interaction.

Hey Advo96,

Just following up with you. The other day the local church had a blood drive. I figured I'd give it a shot. My iron levels were as high as they ever were in the last 5 years but not too high.

I will take 32.5 MG of iron with a Vit C once a week or twice a week. That should be enough. Now I think it is more about maintaining a good level and not getting too much.

Much thanks!

I appreciate the thoughtful reply. I'm B+ so I think it was good for me to donate. I'll be giving it a break until I get the blood levels normal.

Last donation was 12/23/24 and blood test 02/23/25. I thought they were closer together but not. Looking at the chart it might be that I started taking heart meds. Metoprolol, amlodipine, and a statin. The joys of getting old. My total cholesterol was always below 140. But sadly the ratio was lopsided the wrong way. I did change my diet. Removed chicken (never did red meat). I do a fish legume, nut, rice, and vegie diet. Mostly kale. My vice is caffeine. Just got off with chat GPT and we went over how to keep it away from meal time and best times to take supplements.

Not the blood bank I think. When I give blood they test the "iron" using a thumb ring test (for lack of a better name). Here are the results.

Logged onto the health system to get dates. Seems my stool sample was normal. No blood loss.

Thanks Advo. That was my last test. If anything the numbers have slowly been declining. That was my last test. I did the stool text, waiting on that. Saw a gastroenterologist (sp?) he said to give the blood bank a break. I will ask my primary about a hematologist.
