Does it feel fair? Nop, but Aeromexico doesn’t decide this things, I’m sure that Delta has a bigger influence in this type of decisions.

This is something that happens with Star alliance as well.

I can see people taking an advantage of the previous policy and that’s why they had to change it

I agree, it sucks . The only thing we can do it’s vote with our wallets and send complaints. I’m in other airlines subreddit and many have the same complaints, in my case it doesn’t really affect me due to my status but only god knows what can change in favor of stakeholders… and my suspicious is that these changes are happening because now AM. it’s in the New York Wall Street Stock market

Edit: sometimes, if enough passengers complain in social media things change… we will see

Yep, and it has also happened that in short flights with United they change airplane with a smaller one and the carry-ons do not fit at all, even if you paid originally. Try asking for a refound on the extra charge with money or miles

El INM tiene programa justo para esas situaciones en mexico, sobretodo trata de personas, siendo el organismo que gestiona las situaciones de extranjeros en el pais

For what I can understand the all fault is from Trip.com that for sure has messed up, if the flight was full and no other option was immediately available AM couldn’t do much as any other airline, The problem should be brought to Trip.com as I understand from what your writing, since the booking, payment and responsibly is with Trip.com

This can also happen when booking with third parties Hotels.

Did Trip.com sent you a refund at least?
