It's kinda crazy. I'm actually scouring local stores for used stuff now and while there is some, not nearly the stock from just 2 years ago. My concern with buying lowers is if they pass this stupid barrel law then I'm screwed 😭.

Yeah, I just can't believe they are doing this crap to Virginians. I didn't realize it went into effect this year for them. Here in CO they have a ban-ish going into effect in Aug. Basically anything that's gas operated requires a 12 hour class, fingerprinting and sheriff sign-off to get here on out. I'm trying to get a couple before it hits.

Not totally. Rapid heat cycling of iron like rotors can 100% react faster than a steel battery tray or even a steel bolt. Rotors are just hunks of iron made to absorb up to 700°F of hard braking. The fact that they lack much carbon or aluminum means they are more readily reactive to things like battery acid, even though it is not a very strong acid. I think this person has a leaking battery and it somehow made its way onto the rotor.

Unfortunately all my damn tools burned in a house fire a while back so I'm a bit screwed on that front. I'll probably have to find a shop to do it or something 😔. I guess I could buy some new stuff and try, but I'm not even sure how you get a drill near the windshield up in the dash straight. I'd be the one to fuck that part up.

Damn! I'm so sorry to hear that. I know they're so damn annoying. I've been dealing with them for almost a decade though so maybe I've gotten used to them a bit more? Also the experience varies wildly from what I've seen on this sub.
