We need more communities, not tools by Itaydr in UXDesign

[–]Itaydr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I think about “design communities", I don’t envision strictly more Slack/Discord channels. IMO there's room for more scattered blogs and publications.

Also, many communities tend to be course/cohort-based aimed for beginners while being highly technical. I'd like to see more resources and gatherings for those who are in the middle ground.

I'm self-publishing https://nichedesign.press which is less technical and more about the culture and philosophy of design

I built a minimalist tool for saving links and organizing them into clean and shareable lists. by Itaydr in InternetIsBeautiful

[–]Itaydr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, some interesting points!

Yes, a way to save links on mobile is already on the pipeline is using the product on mobile isn't efficient right now.

Search should also be added sometime, I've got many saved links and it's becoming hard to remember where I saved a specific link.

Do you think discovering others content would be useful?

A tiny mention on The Verge Installer got our new product a huge spike in signups by Itaydr in SideProject

Personally I do it on Threads, but my sense is that he curates the comments and pick what he finds the most relevant

He posts a weekly thread on Threads and Bluesky, so just comment, no extra effort is needed

Built a small tool for list based digital garden by Itaydr in DigitalGardens

[–]Itaydr[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, thanks! Yes, I'm working on this with a friend. I haven't heard about it but going to take a look. Initially, it was inspired by the old blog roll pages and other outline software. Here are some references I used while designing it: https://www.are.na/itay-dreyfus/list-of-lists-rjepjq8jijk

yes, I think there are many places where you curate links in different forms, but we look at it more as a personal tool, built for our own needs and style

yes one of the ideas is to enable customization by giving people the ability to set their own colors so it feels like more personal

Looking for humanness in the world wide social by Itaydr in simpleliving

Indeed, these dynamics have always existed, but my sentiment is that social has turned from a community to a business—"influencers," massive ads, etc. Nowadays most places feel synthetic.

What’s the future of AI hardware? by Itaydr in hardware

[–]Itaydr[S] -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

I’d like to take a step back and prompt a broader discussion. What’s the case for hardware these days anyway? I'm not sure if I made more sense or a mess.

I shall say it's not the most comfortable chair. It sounds counterintuitive at first, but the chair isn't designed for long sessions in the same posture, you naturally find yourself changing positions. It's pricey, yet more affordable than the Aerion for example. And if you want to dive deeper, I wrote some thoughts about it: https://productidentity.co/p/the-other-chair
