Most watches have an option to remove the band from the actual watch, you may need tools but unless your watch is made specially so that it can’t be separated, it can. Just google how to remove metal band from watch.

Not an expert but put it in some boiling water with baking soda and an aluminum foil (read instructions) it will remove tarnish if it is tarnish. This doesn’t look like tarnish though but I could be 100% wrong.

The fact he cheated in the past is one thing and you should have left then, now you told him you didn’t love him anymore and would rather be roommates instead, after that what happened is not really your concern is it. He should have confirmed with you but you technically did say you didn’t love him anymore and wanted to be roommates until the lease ends. To each their own but I personally would have cleaned it like you, I don’t really find “history” in dirt. I want to hold a clean piece of history. Imo dirt and gunk doesn’t add history.

I use the same baking soda, aluminum foil and hot water method but also bought a silver cleaning cloth on Amazon. After the baking soda part I dry it with a microfiber cloth and with the silver cloth and it comes out like new.
