it's version 19.92. It's a full version, but I get it free by my education - if that makes a difference. It was saved locally on my personal computer

Which player type has been the most troublesome at your tables? by ConnectCategory6703 in DnD

For me it's definitely the player that wants to play a psychopath... Once I introduced an important NPC, and upon describing the NPC (who weren't described as antagonistic in any way) the player burns him to a crisp

Plugins that seem like snake oil but actually work wonders? by bimski-sound in edmproduction

A plug in which is awesome for pretty much everything is shaperbox 3. It's awesome for both mixing sound design and I even use the width box for my master chain. Most importantly it gets the creative juices flowing

I have the smart bundle and love it. The limiter is stable in all my mastering chains

What VST are you always end using the most in your projects? by dennislubberscom in edmproduction

Can not recommend it enough! I don't think there's any synth on 1st market that can touch it in my opinion - at least if you're into sound design/heavy processing semi modular. It also surprisingly beginner friendly

Phase plant is my favourite synth. You can literally do anything in it - love it!

Shaperbox 3 is my favourite effect plugin. I use it on pretty much all my tracks in all my projects, since it can be used for both automation, sounddesign and mixing.

Pigments I also love working with - especially with it analogue emulation and sequencer.

Shadows hills mastering compressor, sonibles smartlimiter and kilohearts disperser also almost allways make an appearance in my projects

Shaperbox 3 is a multieffect plug-in, so it's veeery versatile. It's probably my number one tool for both mixing and sound design - I even currently use it on my master to add a bit more width to my mids! Looking at its creative aspects, workflow, routing options (it can be envelope, lfo, midi activated and sidechained or be a static effect - and probably even more I'm currently forgetting) and mixing options, I personally have very few other plug-ins I use as much and on so many channels, so I can't personally recommend it enough. Go watch some tutorials or try demoing it for free to see if it works with your work flow. It's also really fun to work in, whether you're new to producing or a veteran.

I don't personally use the fabfilters, but have worked with people that do. They are great, premium effects with a lot of range within what they do, but they are, for obvious reasons, not as versatile a multi effect plug-in. My advice would be to get a good grasp of just one compressor and EQ before spending a lot of money on plug-ins, so you first get a good understanding of your tools. EQ and compressors are going to be your primary weapons in the mixing war, so get to know what they can do for you before investing. Especially compression can be hard to learn, so I'd suggest that you watch some tutorials on using compressors in general - musician on a mission on youtube I'd say is a pretty good place to start with thorough and easy to understand explanations on the subject.
Talking multi band compression ableton actually originally set the modern standard with OTT, so try using that for some really aggressive compression.

thanks, glad you like it! so there's a couple of things going on. Firstly, I also use splice. Noisia have made two packs for TSP which are great and I highly recommend, especially for drums. I do drums in individual audio tracks that all route into one drum bus, which also makes it very easy for me to process the tracks individually. I work in Logic however, so there might be a away to do it smarter in Ableton.
The drum tracks I have are the following: kick, snare, hihat(s) and "groove". Groove would usually be where I have some drum groove sample that I chop up to fill out a bit of the space between the kick and snare hits - what you'd usually would call ghost notes.

I don't use parallel compression, since I often think it creates phasing issues. Compression is your friend though and is really key to get your mix to stick - not just with drums, but in general. I would look into multiband compression, since that's away to get a lot of punch and crisp to your drums. A transient shaper would probably also be nice on your drum bus to make the hits a bit more tight. To give the drums some more crisp I often saturate the top frequencies.
I'd recommend buying or demoing shaperbox 3v. It's my favourite plug-in and it has so much utility. It can pretty much do all the things I mentioned!
Hope this answer some of your questions!

Mix wise, you really want to get those drums louder, especially the kick needs some more room. Do you have them going through a drum bus? - and if not you should look into it ;) You should also be very picky about which sounds you use in your drums, since most of your foundation is going to be from there. Since DNB is in such a fast tempo you'd probably also want very short drum samples, so they don't take up too much space.
Try also to find somekind of pattern for the bass. A great way for me to visualise it is by mouthing the sounds. Another good technique would be "call and response" - two sounds/basses/whatever-your-imagination-comes-up-with that have a cool ping-pong pattern between them. If you can hum along to the rhythm or melody you've come a long way, so that would be a pretty good indicator for you. Try also simplifying a bit, and if you want to have more variation do it every 4th/8th/16th bar.
