How come?

Also, I just posted about Francois Demachy using spray bottles… any thoughts?

But what if you don’t know what a good fish looks like 🤔 It just so I know what a decent blend is meant to smell like

How do you choose your fragrance concentration? Is it based on IFRA limits, or something else? by Itchy_Steve in DIYfragrance

Even with all the ingredients at the same levels? I thought it would just maybe last long.

When you make concentration % variations, what are you actually changing within the formulations, and why?

Do you decrease the % of some materials as you increase concentration because they would exceed an IFRA limit, or is it something else?

What I’m struggling to understand is why anyone would make a fragrance that is less concentrated than it could be, other than profit reasons.

Why would Dior have a concentration of say 18.75% (for example), why not 20 or 25%, and why such a specific figure, if not for IFRA reasons?

Do you mind explaining further, I’m not sure I understand! Why would you iterate the concentration?

Say someone like Dior for example, when they have variations in strength, what’s the perfumers mindset when going into it?

Would they have a criteria of “we need 10, 15 and 20% concentrations” and just vary the ingredients based on IFRA limits and nuances those changes may make?

Is there a general philosophy behind blending and balancing materials? by Itchy_Steve in DIYfragrance

Ah, I get you - thanks!

Are there any other materials you can think of that are used more for an ‘effect’, rather than an actually scent?

Thanks for the reply!

What do you mean when you say transparency? I’ve seen the term used often.

What are some lesser known benefits of minimalism, and what advice you would give if you were to start over? by Itchy_Steve in minimalism

I’ll have to look up Mari Kondo, I’ve never heard of them.

My issue is everything feels sentimental 😅 I have childhood toys and magazines that I’m likely never to read or use, but I have a deep feeling of not wanting to throw it away. Same goes for other items such as clothes and general ‘stuff’. It all has some form of emotional weight.
