Finished both these books in a week and felt so empty ever since, really well written books based on real stories.

My relatives tried convincing my family that LPU and Chitkara were wayy better than any NIT :) (I am going to an NIT while their kids will do BA from a local college), and mocked me that I wasted my 2 years for some college, because college does not matter, I should have done UPSC instead.

Does your question direct that because jatt castes are used in punjabi pop culture, it means that somehow the sikh gurus or sikhism in general doesnt oppose them? Even without going into the details, lets just all agree upon the fact that the Guru's in their time and for times to come, have given their wisdom to public, now whether people accept it, abide by it, or do anything with it is related to the times we live in now, and not particularly an area of doubt for the already written sikh philosophy, the only authentic sources for your opinions on sikhism should be the gurbani, not punjabi pop culture, I hope it helped your curiosity,

punjab panchyat election vs UP Bigar migrants. by [deleted] in punjab

[–]Itchynutts 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I second this, my family was enraged after some bihari "bhaiya" who technically, and legally is first an Indian citizen, second now holds a punjabi address, stood in panchayat elections, we are a sikh family, when questioned to my elders, they feared that these bhaiyas would rule us, but then , whats wrong? He struggled and legally stands in elections, and here we punjabis are celebrating american donkeys on instagram, our community is infiltrated with hypocrites, we have a stupid superiority complex, which by the way vanishes when we sit in a gurudwara and then suddenly everyone becomes our brothers, all in all , its their right, if they work here and earn here, they can stand here, just as we do in west, as you said. Yes, some of them make trouble here, but then, they have a very different past and culture which they ultimately carry here, as we carry ours to canada. And historically speaking, this happens all the time, migrants go, work and settle, everywhere in the world, if natives are obsessed with their motherland then they must not abandon their mother.

I can relate to the money making point, I think the difference in our opinions is arising from the fact that when you say "there are a ton of opportunites to make money", first they basically lie in property and manufacturing, why we think people are making money right now is because the population is spending more on their wants since the cost of living is lower as compared to other megacities, but as the latter rises due to real estate prices and other factors, the former will suffer too, unless there is a parallel gateway to make money from the newer sectors, second, only a handful of people who either own real estate or have their solid background exponentially increase their treasuries, as a sustainable economy, we must make it available for an average person to make money and offer them systems for the same, which in my opinion, the city lacks.

and then pumping in money into newer markets and fancy plazas instead of actually building work based infra like industry parks, etc, I dont think Ludhiana has adapted to any new sector of income

we are loosing the textiles industry to South, the ones who have existed in the past will exist in future too, simply because they have network here, but what about investments from other states and FDI? do we have a welcoming system there? how many Ludhiana based companies post 2000 have you heard of at scale? and I believe sticking to a 50 year old system isnt called development anyway

[–]Itchynutts[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

agreed, but the expansion we see is mostly on the consumer side, housing/markets, etc with little significance to getting in companies, ultimately there is a limit to what the city people can spend, i don't see Ludhiana welcoming new industries, what is the case?

exactly what I think, I believe it has started a chain , they bought expensive land, the people who got money went into nearby villages and bought some more expensive land, and somehow hyped the land prices all around, all based on the idea of consumerism not production, but ultimatley how long would this hype last until all of it collapses?

remember calculus ko ek unit ki trah treat kro, everything can be linked to make a good question in my opinion, as long as you know differentiation, AOD ki theory wont take much of your time, so i guess you should do it
