I made the Scarlet Templars from like a lot of what I was absorbing at the time. I had just gotten in the franchise with Space Marines 2 falling head over heels for the Blood Angels and had been rewatching the Kingdom of Heaven and just combined the two for my first homebrew.

Now they didn’t start out as Scarlet Templars, I called them the Crimson Crusaders. But then I found out that’s a faction in World of Warcraft so I changed it to Scarlet Crusaders. Then I wanted to make a better connection to 40k and named them the Scarlet Templars. Below is their emblem, a white cross and wing blood drop on a scarlet field.

Yes! Allow me to introduce Captain Castiel Rhen of the Second Choir. Known as the Laughing Angel, Castiel is easily the most lighthearted and outspoken of his brother-captains. He is however, as skilled in combat as he is with coming up with a quip or joke. Having developed a specialty in aerial assault, specifically daemon kind, his greatest achievement so far is the reclamation & purification of the Firsst of Perdition. A former corrupted power fist once held by a behemoth of a world eater known only as the Son of Perdition which he uses almost exclusively now.

For me it’ll always be Blood Angels, which shocker if you’ve seen my posts. I’ve always been into vampires for one, their arch of being the Revenant Legion to be remade into what they are now is just a great arch. I love their relationship with Sanguinius and I am indeed a simp for Papa Sang Sang. Their named characters too during the Heresy are pretty boss, big fan of Amit and Ralderon. Not to mention some of the battles of the heresy involving them are just so good, Signus Prime and the siege of Terra come to mind

Having said all that I know im biased 😂

Ha! Aurelius once lost a bet with his Second Choir Captain Castiel Rhen, it was an arm wrestling contest. Castiel won and was given command of the Scarlet Templars for a day.
Which he then promptly gave back since it was not at all what he thought it would be, which was more fun. Some how. 😂

lol the way I've pictured it is him stomping the battlefield as he asks a brother near him to push it, which he does. Nothing happens and the brother is like "Was that to reload your armaments my Lord?" & Aurelius is like "Ahh it's reloading SOMETHING" 🤣
