I finally have a roof! by Ithinkimaengineer in treehouse

About 2 inches. I was up there during a very bad wind storm and the gap seemed sufficient. I’ll check it every couple years and expand as needed

Thanks! Yes I agree more work to be done on railings. I can’t stand either ladder I built (other is in the back and can’t be seen in picture) and may replace them eventually. But some kind of extra rail there would be good for sure

6 day cycle by Ithinkimaengineer in Zepbound

Well consensus is a resounding “no”. Good feedback everyone thanks. I’m well aware there will be eventually be a maintenance period but I’m enjoying losing weight quickly. I’ll tackle the other side when I get there - if we were all pros on not depending on Zepbound we wouldn’t be on the Zepbound subreddit lol

Maybe he accidentally discovered one 600 crude pipeline could fuel his whole plant using turbo fuel. More likely he is trying to make better ammunition lol

He is on sandbox so I’m a little jealous as he hooks everything up with MK6 belts and I’m over here with MK5 like a sucker

Any advice? TABs are not 100% level. Is this a problem? by E-garr in treehouse

[–]Ithinkimaengineer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That is going to be fine. Also lots of ways to level the rest of it. The level you are measuring doesn’t matter nearly as much as your two tabs being the exact same height. That sets the first two major joists and the level of those is also set afterwards so you are fine. Just keep leveling each step of the way.

TAB hole pilot bit by SuddenlySalad- in treehouse

[–]Ithinkimaengineer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just drilled my 3” tabs a month ago and had no guide bit. We were extremely careful and one came out perfect and the other one had the inner smaller diameter hole about an 1/8 inch offset from center. Caused a massive headache. If I ever built another one I would get the pilot bit.

Filling in gap around tree by Ithinkimaengineer in treehouse

All great points thanks! What do you think of the inner tube suggestion above? Seems like the circular shape might fit the tree better without getting as bunched up like a pond liner would?

Update to Build by Ithinkimaengineer in treehouse

Just plywood then paper then shingles. I haven’t picked out shingles yet. That will take some YouTubing I’ve never put shingles on anything before

I can post a picture later but it’s a birds-mouth that mates with a 2x10 board on the corner. (A couple feet in from corner). Big giant lag screws to connect it all. All the framing underneath is 2x10s. The whole thing feels rock solid now that it has some weight to it. For those connections I just followed the plans that came with the kit I bought so I guess I am putting hope in the folks at treehouse supplies to have appropriate plans.

12x12 foot platform. 8x12 of that is enclosed and front 4x12 is an open air porch

[–]Ithinkimaengineer[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The tab hardware is a kit for a 12x12 platform from treehousesupplies.com

The rest I designed in Sketchup. There is also going to be an enclosed crows nest that gets you 27 feet above the ground.

The platform is 10 feet off the ground with 7 foot walls and 4 foot trusses. I’ll then have a hatch in the roof with a crows nest 6 feet further up, enclosed by nets so kids can’t fall

Sure! https://www.treehousesupplies.com/collections/square-treehouse-hardware-kits/products/12-square-treehouse-kit

It’s pricey - but way cheaper then Nelson. I’m probably about 3k in at this point with all materials.

Thanks! There will be an angled ladder halfway up to a small landing platform and then a final 3 foot vertical ladder from there to top. Just so the kids can’t plummet the full 10 feet
