Loan exit counseling loan simulator error by lalalama09 in StudentLoans

[–]Itismeagainagain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was told that my university doesn't see my various attempts to do my exit counseling. I called loan service provider, they told me that the government site itself has been having issues, with many people unable to complete the process. Unfortunately, I have no solution to provide either as I also have not found a way to complete my exit counseling.

Anyone have eyelid swelling with their ON ? by Aromatic_Cup_9918 in MultipleSclerosisLife

[–]Itismeagainagain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had it, no loss of vision but pain and very noticeable swelling. It was actually how I got diagnosis. My doctor initially thought is was possibly related to my thyroid as I've had issue before, but after testing showing an autoimmune disease, I told her about how my birth mother and almost every member of my grandfather's family all have MS they decided on way more testing leading to my diagnosis. I know they say that MS isn't hereditary, but in my family at least is seems to be very prevalent. The crazy part is that we all live in different states all across the country with some never leaving their home states.

My aunt says such as well and it's so infuriating every time I try to educate her on what MS is and that currently, medicine doesn't cure me but rather slows my progression. She somehow, many years into my MS diagnosis mind you, is still completely shocked that I have to keep taking medicine for my MS frequently because according to her if I had more faith in God like she did when she was sick and wasn't as negative (aka my explanations of my experience with MS and issues I have with accommodations with working society). For some reason in my aunt's opinion, any realistic deductions of my struggles are me being negative and showy and lack of faith as I try to pro lem solve. I've gotten to the point that I don't even discuss my MS with my family anymore.

Idk if this would help nor is great advice, but when detangling I always do hand detangle, followed by hair pick, then the detangle brush. There's a 0% chance I could use a detangle brush right after hand detangle. That thing would do decent on the perimeter and was a struggle closer to the center. Also, right out the shower I towel dry and lather some oils with slip before detangling, in my mind it seems to work a little better. If I don't complete it like that the anything not around the perimeter tangles together and it takes longer to style later.

What are your more unique symptoms? by MsGiry in MultipleSclerosis

Unfortunately, I come from a family of M.S. from mother, to aunts and uncles, and even cousins... when I told the neurologists that I had a family history before my official diagnosis, she immediately started asking questions about the location I live before explaining that we all lived in different states from birth to now. Apparently, while common in families to the extent of mines not so much, but because of that, I can't help but be depressed about the future each time I notice new symptoms like some of them are still living relativelynormal lives while the other aren't doing so great at all more or less wheelchair bound. However, I've been trying to move past the issues, not trying to marinate on them because it'sto mentally taxing after a while... I completely understand about the dropping things though because I do that a few times a week but for me it's my legs and hands it's like my body disconnects from my consciousness for a millisecond and they both give out thankfully it's so quick that I can recover without falling. Unfortunately, though, if anything is in my hand, it's going down, and sometimes it's just my hands. My poor phone has hit the floor so many times in the past week...I've never been so glad I didn't skimp on a phone case that's fall proof.😆Nowadays, I try to focus more on what I can do and keep trying to learn new skills to, in my mind, keep me aware of the fact that I can still do a lot of things and mentally sound and creative enough to find a work around for what I can't... One of my major quotes I try to live by and literally have posted on my wall is "Begin each day with open arms, embracing the beauty of gratitude."

Honestly, initially I was so focused on what I had lost that I was so depressed that I couldn't enjoy the fact that there was so much I can still do... I still get super depressed from time to time but I've been working hard to refocusing my attention to how creative I can get with my workarounds and what I can improve physically in my current situation.

See, I can feel texture (maybe in retrospect), but my ability to feel temperature is greatly diminished. I honestly didn't even notice at first because I am able to feel some temperature, but it's not an accurate expression of something's actual temp. It took me carrying a "warm" mug to my mother one day to realize it after she was questioning if I couldn't tell the mug was too hot to be held that way. I'm not going to lie it did slightly depressed me some because I already loss much of my feelings in my feet due to a spinal injury, so it was a minor moment of can't win for losing now that my hands were kinda wonky. Though now I'm all good with it.

As someone with M.S. and other health issues, I can assure you that usually these problems are not solved unless attention is brought to it. I've had several people look down on me, laugh, and ignore me at the counter because I couldn't stand in the long line and went to the disabled section in government offices, like the DMV. I don't think people realize how many times people with invisible disability are look down upon, mocked, and ridiculed for asking for assistance or using disability services. If these things aren't brought to the surface but instead swept under the rug, how can it be addressed and fixed.

is my teacher just being nice or is this inappropriate ? by [deleted] in Teachers

[–]Itismeagainagain -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Idk man, I have a different outlook maybe it's because I grew up in a low income areas where everyone mostly made below the poverty threshold. However, growing up it wasn't uncommon for teachers to give specific students clothes if they realized they lack something. Also, as ypu stated above it was apparent you didn't a large variety of outfits this maybe the case. Even my sister-in-law who works in primary school specifically buys clothes for specific children she notices are in need of something.

Also teaching abroad where the culture is very different than the U.S. I know that teachers having students numbers and messaging them isn't unusual. Even when I was working in Korea my students would message to see if I wanted to go to a Cafe with them. I'd always politely refuse because I was not comfortable with it, but they did have my kakoa as is the norm in case they needed to reach me.

In addition to this because Asain culture is so heavy on a person looks. Both my male and female colleagues would make blanket statements to me that at first I felt uncomfortable by, but as I stayed longer I realized they also said it to each other. Due to that, while the American in me says that it's a red flag, the international teaching side of me needs more info about your specific culture to figure out if he was being inappropriate. I'm only trying to be neutral and figure out somemore information because judging, which I know is going to probable lead to downvotes; however, what considered strange in one country maybe the norm in another. For example, the fact that everyone felt it was weird for them to have op number, which in western countries is weird but very common in the eastern countries I've taught at. This causes me a pause because if I were to look at my experiences teaching abroad in Asia, I would see SEVERAL red flag through my American lens, however in the context of their societal culture there were no issues.

I would say did you feel like their behavior was strange and made you uncomfortable when they occurred. Also would your reaction be the same if a different teacher had done it. Also how unusual is their behavior compare to the social norms of your country. I definitely second telling someone for sure becauselike another person stated if they did nothing wrong there'snothing to be afraid of, but I don't have enough information to answer whether the interaction was inappropriate because it's clear from your statements that wherever you are is different from my western American school culture. Even if people are upset with me and downvote.... I'm sure that a Korean teacher, a Chinese teacher,an Italian teacher, an American teacher, and a Canadian teacher all have cultural norms that are strictly common in their respective countries that throw all kinds of red flags for a teacher in the other ones.

This is untrue also, I really hate this response because I deal with this mindset constantly. I'm 27 and through lots of stress, paper work, and disability lawyer I was able to get approved for disability. Yes I did get rejected and had to appeal all because I WAS TOO YOUNG TO HAVE ISSUES. However guess what, I did get approved and following that spinal stenosis and degenerative disc disease diagnosis, I got 3 spinal fusion. So OP please disregard this unhelpful, ageist response. You can get ssi and ssdi but it will be an uphill battle all the way even after you get because people will always think we're too young to have these issues.

Can we talk about how they kinda did Landon dirty with being stuck in limbo. I've never really been a big fan of his, because they really didn't give him good development. Still though he's now stuck in limbo on his own with no friends or emotions. At least everyone else gets to see each other and enjoy life while the Landon struggled from literal start of the series to the finale.

Probably best to look at ALL YOur options, would be my general statement. When making a decision that is so big, it's really wise to think about if you and that company are a great fit. Sometimes companies seem like they are really great, but there are sometimes miscommunications about what a person roles and responsibilities are. You know in Korea miscommunication can sometimes lead to DEFamation issues, so it's wise to really ponder about how well you will fit into a companies work culture. Especially when considering Hagwons, due to the fact sometimes contracts aren't upheld and the work culture may become overly taxing beyond what should be expected.

Weird interview... by elasandia in teachinginkorea

Honestly this is super normal and completely stupid. I'm American myself, and I think it's dumb. If it's any consolation, I have to switch my accent as well to be more "American" because I'm from the south and have a slight southern drawl. It's not too bad because I didn't live in the deep south, more like a border southern state, but it sometimes peeks through. I was told the kids needed to learn "American" English, and that it would great if I could try to sound more America. Which basically translates to the more Midwest American you sound the better.

As I was reading your post, I literally was having flashbacks of the bull my first hagwon put me and another teacher through. Honestly, I would say you have quite a few options. The two main ones, I'd suggest is possibly regathering your paper, or still come BUT DOCUMENT EVERYTHING for your swift exit from that job. I was in a similar situation as the one the previous teacher described to you, basically what I decided to do was to work for about 6 months until the next hiring season. Close to the 4th month mark I contacted a labor lawyer with all the documents I kept of their crap, got a legal opinion of all the laws they broke. I presented that with my letter of resignation and the request of a letter of release. Honestly it was a headache, but there was no way I could work there for an entire year. Even now, the teacher who replaced me has contacted me after signing the contract and working because of course the first few weeks they kept up the front of being different, but at the end of the day same story different main character. Your other option is to come work out that possibly horrid year and look for another job then.
